LOOKING FOR HELP AGAIN.
*Male shepard passed blood in stool around Christmas.
Vet did a complete exam found Shepard in good health.
Vet did a complete blood work up.
*Red cell count normal.
*White cell count normal.
*Platelet count below normal range (90,000)
Treatment was predisone for 14 days. retest blood.
Platelet count went to 45,000.
Tested for Tick diease and results were negitive.
Treatment doxicyclene(spelling) for 14 days.
retest platelet count Normal (219,000)
Vet happy with platelet count. Retest in 14 days and count back to 196,000. Clotting of sample being reason count dropped. Vet still not concerned. vet wants to retest in 3 months.
I requested he continue to sample at 14 intervals.
Retest in 14 days-platelet count NOW 120,000 with clotting being given the reason for low count.
At present 3 local vets have looked at dog and have gone to a outside panel for information,
Still no answer as why platelet count was low to start with or have a name for problem he has.
Has anyone had similar problems?? Any help despretaley needed.
Thanks> Butch
