The Principles of Dog Training II - Advanced Obedience Concepts

Posted: 12-28-2015 • Length: 3 Minutes, 50 Seconds
Categories: Leerburg Online University, Michael Ellis
The Principles of Dog Training II is a continuation of Michael Ellis first online course. The course picks up directly where the first course left off. In order to enroll in this course, you must have taken The Principles of Dog Training I, or Obedience Intensive through the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers.

In Michael's first course, students developed a strong foundation and communication system with their dog. We are now going to build on that foundation and take your training to the next level. In this course, students will learn how to take the skills learned in the first course and apply them to more advanced behaviors and situations. Students will learn how to chain exercises together in order to develop more advanced obedience behaviors. We will start by adding in the last 3 position changes that were not covered in the first course. From there, you will learn how to achieve focused heeling with your dog, a formal retrieve, the jumps, advanced recall work, finishing work, and finally, loose walking.

This is a 6 module course that will take 13 weeks to complete, plus an additional live chat 4 weeks after the course is completed. In order for student to have ample time to perfect the more advanced skills, we have made the modules in this course 2-3 weeks long. Along with the course material, we have added an appendix to the course that contains the following streaming videos in their entirety: Leash Skills, Finishing Work, Focused Heeling, Training the Recall, and Training the Jumps.
