1999 KNPV 1 PH1 Championships

Posted: 01-01-2008 • Length: 1 Hour, 59 Minutes, 59 Seconds
Categories: Advanced Obedience
This years KNPV took place as it always does in Den Bosh, Holland. It's always on the first Friday and Saturday in September in De Viliet Stadium. The dogs in this year's event were top quality dogs. The video will reflect this.

This video is edited to show one dog go through each of the obedience routines (except the bark exercises in the woods which spectators can not see). The obedience exercises are:

Area search for the box
Area search for the man in the woods
Water work
Small article search
Heeling exercises
Long down
Food refusal from a stranger
Guard the article
Transport of an intoxicated suspect
Be quiet - under gun fire

I then edited all of the top dogs going through the bite routines. There is video footage of every dog in the event. Due to the time limitation of a 2 hour video, I was not able to put every dog on the tape doing every bite routine.

There are 5 protection routines for the KNPV 1 dogs:

The stick attack (the dog must be hit with the stick before it bites)
The attack under gun fire
The "Call Back" - with the helper running away
The attack of a helper riding a bike
The bark and Hold

The bite work for this year's KNPV was particularity spectacular. The helpers were taken to the ground on a number of occasions (to the crowds pleasure). In several instances the helpers had a difficult time getting back on their feet, because of the impact of the hits and the skill of the dogs keeping the helper off balance and on the ground.

The image quality of this streaming video is nowhere near the quality it was when it was originally filmed. It is also nowhere near the quality of our current Leerburg training DVDs.

Many of the older dog shows and competitions were not encoded into a computer format until the video tapes were 20 to 25 years old. Over the years, the image quality of video tape deteriorates. These older dog shows are being offered for their historical significance. That's why we are streaming videos for its current price which that originally sold for up to $100.00.

These videos are no longer offered on DVDs.
