2001 Belgian Ring Cat.2 Championship

This is the first time that I have filmed an NVBK Category 2 championship. For a dog to qualify for the Category 2 it must compete in 8 competitions in the year of the championship. Two of those trials must be outside of the dog's local district. The top 20 dogs in the country with the highest scores from their 8 trials are selected to compete in the championship.
The winner of the 2001 championship was Bart Bellon. I was able to get excellent video of Bart's performance. Bart is very well known in Europe and throughout the world for the seminars he gives on the use of electric collars. He has given a number of seminars with Helmut Raiser. It's evident in watching his dog compete in this championship that he is one of the top dog trainers in the world.
While there are many, many similarities between the two ring orgs., there are also clear differences. To begin with all of the St. Hubert dogs (Malinois) are registered dogs, while the majority of NBVK are non-registered dogs.
Both Orgs. have standardized obedience exercised that do not change from event to event, neither org. has tracking. But both have non-standardized protection routines, while means the competitors do not know what the exact exercises are until the day they arrive. This means that the dogs must go through a great deal of training to be prepared for what the judges set up for the bite work. The helper at this years' event was outstanding. He was one of the best ring helpers I have seen at any ring event.
If you have an interest in Belgian Malinois and have always wondered about the differences between the 2 Malinois organizations in Belgium, get a couple of these videos and from your opinions on the similarities and differences between the two dog sports.
The image quality of this streaming video is nowhere near the quality it was when it was originally filmed. It is also nowhere near the quality of our current Leerburg training DVDs.
Many of the older dog shows and competitions were not encoded into a computer format until the video tapes were 20 to 25 years old. Over the years, the image quality of video tape deteriorates. These older dog shows are being offered for their historical significance. That's why we are streaming videos for its current price which originally sold for up to $100.00.
These videos are no longer offered on DVDs.
