Carrie Wooddell on Introducing Your Dog to Biking

Uploaded on July 20, 2022 • 3 min

In this video, Carrie breaks down the steps in which she desensitizes her puppy to a bicycle. She starts by walking both the bicycle and the puppy next to each other. As the puppy becomes acclimated to the bike, Carrie then sits on the bike and walks it next to the puppy, and repeats the first exercise. Eventually, Carrie moves to very slowly riding the bike next to the puppy. At this point, it is important to remember that we are just introducing the bike to the puppy and we shouldn't be riding full speed or making the puppy run at full speed. Young puppies are still growing and their joints are not ready to be physically taxed, doing so could cause irreparable damage to their joints.
