1999 Belgian Ring Championship

Uploaded on January 1, 2008 • 2 hr, 1 min
There are two Ring Organizations in Belgium. The "NBVK" and "La Societe Royale Saint Hubert." For the past 3 years I have traveled to Belgium and filmed the NBVK Championships.

In 1999 I traveled to Namur, Belgium and filmed the St.Hubert Ring Championships. This 2 hour video will give the viewer a clear picture of the differences in these 2 dog sports.

While there are many, many similarities between both ring orgsanizations, there are also clear differences. To begin with all of the St. Hubert dogs (Malinois) are registered dogs, while the majority of NBVK are non-registered dogs.

Both organizations have standardized obedience exercises that do not change from event to event, neither organization has tracking. But both have non-standardized protection routines, which means the competitors do not know what the exact exercises are until the day they arrive. This means that the dogs must go through a great deal of training to be prepared for what the judges set up for the bite work. The helper at this years' event was outstanding. He was one of the best ring helpers I have seen at any ring event.

The image quality of this streaming video is nowhere near the quality it was when it was originally filmed. It is also nowhere near the quality of our current Leerburg training DVDs.

Many of the older dog shows and competitions were not encoded into a computer format until the video tapes were 20 to 25 years old. Over the years, the image quality of video tape deteriorates. These older dog shows are being offered for their historical significance. That's why we are streaming videos for its current price which originally sold for up to $100.00.

These videos are no longer offered on DVDs.
