I'm trying to teach my dog hand signals, but he won't look at me. I appreciate any help.

I purchased Lynx in 11/05 and I have a question that maybe you can help me in my training. I'm having trouble with Lynx not looking at me. For example if I tell him to sit and stay (he does) and if I walk away or stand behind, he will not look at me. The reason that this is a problem is I'm trying to teach him hand signals but he won't look at me so he can understand what I'm trying to instruct him. I hope I explained this clearly.
