Would a dog that attacks one specific other dog be considered aggressive? Is this dog to be trusted around kids?

Full Question:
I found your site very informative. If a dog is friendly with other dogs, cats and people but attacks one specific dog more than once, would this dog be considered aggressive? Recently, she attacked this much smaller dog beyond repair and sadly the dog didn't survive. Is this dog to be trusted around small children? I know with any dog, there should always be close supervision. But knowing she has this ability in her, is it too risky to keep her in the home with children?

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
A dog that attacks other dogs at all should be considered aggressive.

I'd spend some time reading about pack structure, I'd control this dog's free time 100% as well.

Animal aggression doesn't always equal aggression to humans but it does show a lack of training and respect for authority.

I'd recommend Pack Structure for the Family Pet, Dealing with Dominant & Aggressive Dogs, and Basic Obedience.

Here is a section on preventing dog bites in kids.

Supervision, leadership and training are what ever dog needs, especially around kids
