My dog is 13 months old and hasn't gone into heat yet. Do you know why she hasn't?
Full Question:
My golden retriever is 13 months and hasn't gone into heat. I plan to breed her, as she is an AKC show dog. Thank you for your help. I don't know why she hasn't yet.

It's not that unusual for larger breeds to go into season at a later age than small breeds. I had a Doberman female years ago that had her first heat around 16 months old.
It would probably be a good idea to have a blood panel for thyroid function run, as a baseline to refer to in the future. I do this with all my breeding dogs.
If you have concerns for her health, I'd seek the help of a qualified reproduction vet. Good luck.
