Our Lab is struggling with reactivity on leash. Can you recommend a DVD for this topic?

Full Question:
Hi,
We need guidance. Our lab is struggling with leash reactivity (due to frustration), and we are trying to set him up for more successful approaches/greetings with other dogs/people. Off-leash he is much better but those off-leash environments are few and far between where we live. Please recommend a DVD or academy that addresses this topic. Thanks.

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
We have a video on Leash Reactivity and I would also suggest Loose Leash walking as those 2 really go hand in hand.

I would caution you about allowing greetings with dogs/people you don't know, especially with a dog that struggles with reactivity. There is really no good reason for our dogs to meet & greet dogs they don't know and for a dog like yours, that already has issues it only makes things worse. It builds a pattern of frustration that becomes very hard to extinguish.

We don’t go up and shake hands and interact with every person we pass on the sidewalk or hiking trail and to expect our dogs to do this is often not in their best interest. Even if your dog is calm you never know about the history and issues a strange dog may be struggling with that may be made worse by allowing your dog to approach and greet.
User Response:
Thanks. We are always aware of the need for the "loose leash", and know-how critical that is. Thanks for the suggestions. The short videos by Tyler are helpful and a place to start but these streaming resources will help tremendously.
