Product Description
If you use a prong collar you must also use a backup collar at the same time your using the prong collar. Prong collars can accidently come apart. This happens because prong collars are not snug enough on the dogs neck. If a prong collar comes apart and there is not a backup collar on your dog, you then have an off-leash dog running around, usually in a distraction filled environment
Our prong collar leash is designed to be used with a second collar. We recommend on of out nylon dominant dog collars.
This Amish made latigo leather leash has solid stainless steel snaps. This leash is made so that a prong collar is attached to one clip and dominant dog collar™ (or backup collar) is attached to second clip. There is a six inch tab attached to clip end of the leash for that second collar. When or if the prong collar fails and comes off the dog, the second collar is already attached without interfering with the prong collar corrections. Second handle for more control.

"A favorite of Police K9 handlers, military working dog handlers, trainers in every major dog sport as well as professional dog trainers, this dual clasped leash is designed to be clipped to two collars at a time. It's especially useful for dogs that wear prong collars (which are prone to detaching), as well as any sly dog adept at slipping out of their collar, as it provides a much-needed safeguard and backup system. This is also amongst the most durable and best-crafted of all of the leashes we tested, being made of high-quality leather that's double stitched with firm grommets at all junctures. Made entirely in the U.S.A. and wholly hand-forged, these Latigo leather leashes are also practically works of art. The thickest cow hides available are especially selected for Leerburg and undergo an 85-step tanning process that takes over a month. Once tanned, they're delivered to an Amish family in Wisconsin, that hand cuts, sews, pop-rivets, and tailors everything by hand. The leashes come in three lengths (4, 6 and 10-feet), and three shades."

MADE IN THE USA
Leerburg leather products are works of art.
The cow hides used to make all of Leerburg's leather are hand selected for Leerburg before tanning. We need and use the thickest hides available. Our hides go through over 85 steps in a tanning process that takes over a month. There are many types of Latigo leather that are made in Mexico, India, or Pakistan, but none can compare to the quality of Leerburg’s Latigo leather.
Once tanned, our Leerburg Leather is delivered to the Amish family that crafts our leather products right here in Wisconsin. Our 4 Amish craftsmen have been making Leerburg leather products since 1990.
These 5 Amish craftsmen hand cut, sew, pop-rivet, and tailor all of our leather products. We have yet to come across another leather product that measures up to our products' quality.
In 2015, we switched from using brass or bronze hardware to stainless steel. Stainless Steel is stronger and lasts a lifetime. You can go and find a cheaper leather product somewhere else, but the quality will not measure up to our products.
100% of Leerburg leather products are made in Wisconsin. We don't use leather from India, Pakistan, or Mexico.
Notes
Not a Tie-out: It should go without saying that no leather leash should ever be used as a tie-out. Dog's can chew through any leather leash if you allow them to. Our leashes are not guaranteed to be CHEW-PROOF.
Leash only: This listing is only for the leash. Some photos display this leash with a dominant dog collar and a prong collar which are sold separately. We also have all-in-one Prong Collar Leash Kits available.

I never knew a Leash like this existed. I was on this site shopping for a Collar and a Leash. I came across this product and thought Wow!! cause I do use a Prong Collar on my Dog. So thought Id try this out. Great Construction really strong Stitching. The fact its made of 3/4inch Leather means I have no worries about it breaking like Ive had with many other Leashes. Great Product! Well worth the money!!!

I absolutely love this leash. I have a high energy German Shepherd dog who is very strong. A dog walker claims his prong collar got loose and she immediately quit the job. With this leash even if the prong collar becomes loose, which has never happened to me, control can still be maintained. The quality of leather, design and stitching is exquisite. It is well worth the cost. I will be ordering a second one.

The fact that this is a two handled leash was the main selling point when I was looking for a prong collar leash. This is the first leather leash I've ever had so I can't compare it to other leather leashes, but I can say I really like how it doesn't bother my hands if I'm holding it too tight & it attaches to both my staffy's new prong collar & her back up collar so I don't need two leashes.

The leash I bought a few years ago is still working great, but I'm buying a backup now just in case y'all ever run out. This high quality leash has been a lifesaver for me and my Spitz. I clip it onto his Curogan prong collar and his harness, and when we see a "trigger" approaching on our walks I can hang onto the shorter handle to keep him close and quickly correct him if he lunges. The leather is really nice to grip too. If your dog wears a prong collar he definitely needs this leash too!
It's a shame that they sell prong collars without a warning about how they pop apart. In my opinion, they should only sell prong collars with a dual snap leash and backup collar. This is a wonderful product.
High quality leather, strong, useful and works as intended. Great invention! Love everything made by Amish people. Thank you all!

My German Shepard Dog knows how to catch the snap on his leash on branches in such a way that he uncouples his leash from his collar. I purchased this leash because it has dual snaps. Problem solved. This leash has become my favorite because of the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship. This leash is high quality supple leather that quickly becomes very supple. The handles conform to my wrist like it was custom made for me. No matter where I grab the leash it has awesome traction and does not slip and give me rope burn like my old nylon leash did. I use the traffic handle when in motion so that my dog does not pull. When my dog wants to sniff around I use the regular handle to give him some extra room. This leash has made it a lot easier and enjoyable for me to walk my dog. More importantly, my dog is much safer now.

I have owned this leash for about five years now... I love it as much today as I did the first day I purchased it. It has broken in beautifully and there is no wear and tear on it. When it gets smelly I wipe it down with a Clorox wipe and then apply a leather protector on it. It has literally saved my dog from running into the road several times. I use a plastic prong along with her regular leather collar. The plastic prong has a safety feature that if she pulls too hard, it snaps open (to prevent choking). Due to the fact that this leash has two clips, one clip stayed on the leather collar, preventing her from running away from me, and into the road. I also love the traffic handle. I use that when we approach other dogs, or when we are waiting at a traffic light. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LEASH!!!!
Leather was a bit stiff at first but after a few weeks of use it softened up to a nice feel. Amazing quality of craftsmanship. Dual handles are key for controlling my 90 lb black lab. Great look, feel, quality and price!
Just got this leash yesterday, and is it ever gorgeous! What a well-made piece of equipment. More importantly, it works! I have a high-drive rescue rott who can be a bear to walk sometimes (she's come a looong way in the year we've had her, but still has issues with dog and leash aggression, and lunging at buses and large trucks- she's a sweetheart in the house but sometimes a terror on the streets!). She's popped her prong apart going for a rabbit or cat more times than I like to think about... I always had a back-up collar on her, but clipping to both really reduced the effectiveness of her prong collar. This leash solves that problem... the power-steering is back on, and I know that she's safe if her prong comes apart. We live in the city, and the double-handle feature is great for extra control when we're approaching one of her triggers or to keep her close to me in traffic or when passing other people. Way more effective and secure than our former solution to that, a nylon leash with a knot part-way down for more traction when pulling her in close. This leash feels great in your hands- you can feel the quality (and good-bye to rope-burn from the synthetic leash we used before). I look forward to years of more enjoyable walks with our new leash. Thanks!
