This is for an 8mo old Cane Corso. He can be very pig headed and at times seams oblivious to pain.
I want to get a bark collar for him as he can bark for attention when left alone. He has a slight seperation issue which he is getting better with, but the barking is really annoying.
I also want to get a remote collar to be able to correct him from a distance. He has bad habbit of jumping up on doors if I'm on the other side of them, and I have no way to physically correct him. Some of the doors have glass in them and I'm worried he'll break that one day if this continues.
I had purchased an Innotek ADV300P and wasn't too happy with it. There were times I would nick him and he barley flinched, even on the highest setting. I've had the collar on continuous on max setting before and he pretty much acted as if there was a fly bugging him. He eventually got off the door, but it wasn't the immeadiate "No" "Zap" "Off" sequence I was looking for. It was more of a "No" "zapppp...." and him staring at me while shaking his head a few times.
I'm looking at ordering a Dogtra 200Gold or the 1500NCP. From what I understand the 1500 has a longer range but also more correction levels. Do you think the 200 would be good enough or would I just be wasting my time and would end up ordering the 1500 few weeks later?
Also, I was wondering if I should just get the remote collar and use that to correct the barking as opposed to buying a seperate collar. The barking is only an issue when I'm around. Once I leave and he settles down, the barking eventually stops and he sleeps.

mmmmm....personally I would say that there is no comparison. I think that Innotek puts out a good product for pet owners and dogs with medium to little drive.
I have some Innotek stuff and basically I do not use it unless I have a dog that cannot take the Dogtra or Tri-Tronic collar (which in most cases means the dog does not need an e-collar period so I have the handlers go back to groundwork before even using it). AND, I loan them out if people need to borrow one.
Just my opinion really.....I am sure there are people out there that use them and like them.

I have an Innotek IUT-300 and a word of warning:
The hand-held transmitter has soft plastic or rubber buttons that can rip and tear, rendering the whole damn thing useless. I would not buy Innotek again because of this design flaw.
Marta, I purchased the Dogtra 1700 http://www.leerburg.com/1700.htm upon a previous recommendation by Carol Boche and I'm very happy with it. The levels go from 0-127 and the read-out is digital and easy to see. I believe the Dogtra 1600 is the same as the 1700 except for a digital read-out.
Both the Dogtra 1600 and the 1700 have waterproof transmitters and collars. The 1500 doesn't have a digital read-out and although the collar is waterproof, the transmitter is water resistant.
Info on the Dogtra 200 says it's between the pet trainers and the Pro line. It may not have enough stim for your Cane Corso based on what you posted.
This must be dejavu, I am also trying out an e-coller( Dogtra 1700) on my soon to be 8 mo. old Cane Corso. I am trying to determine what level to use but I think I'm not getting good contact because it seems like all I'm getting is a small twitch from him and that's when I turn it up to the 60 range. I know it is working properly. (don't ask!) Does anyone have any suggestions? I've heard if you wet the hair around the neck of the dog you get better results but I haven't tried that yet.
Have you shocked yourself with 60? That seems high for a "normal" stim.
I just went up to 90 on my upper leg. That was enough fun tonight.
I'm going to watch Ed’s DVD before I use the collar on Starbuck. On the DVD he explains how to set the starting stim amount. Check out some of the other threads.
Be careful if you apply water or another conductor to the dog, it could greatly increase the shock he receives.
