The breeder labeled my dog as a puppy at 6 weeks plush-coated.
I am remotely interested pursuing a breed survey and maybe even going for a show/conformation rating one day. Both of these aspirations are more for experience and interest in how she would stack up (no pun intended).
I am not sure if her coat would be considered a disqualifying fault based on some of her long stock hairs on her legs and ears. Here is a side and head pic.

Interested in others thoughts and opinions.

The steps to a breed survey are a show rating, AD (20 km endurance run), hip certification and a working title. Unless you are planning on breeding her, it's not really worth the effort to get a breed survey.
FWIW, her coat doesn't seem all that much longer than some of the show line dogs you see in the ring.
If you are not already in a club, you may want to check out some of the ones in your region.

The club breed warden can provide a more definitive answer to whether the coat is disqualifying.
The coat seems a bit like a Chodsky Pes dog. This is a Czech variant of the northern European herding dog. It was supposedly used as part of the mix when the German Shepherd was created.

Nice head shot of the dog

Not saying I agree with this, but from what I've seen, her feathering would be considered too much. Not so much the actual length of her coat, but the fact that she has distinctive feathering on her legs and ears. The sable dog in my signature is considered a plush coat, and he has zero feathering, so I really wouldn't bother trying to breed survey her. Not to rain on your parade... I think she's quite beautiful.

I am in a club and working toward a SchH title. Just achieved the BH this Fall and the AD is planned for our Spring trial. OFA x-rays will be this winter after her upcoming heat cycle.
My goal in all this is not soley for the purpose of breeding -- although I do consider it from time to time; I have a real enjoyment and pride working with my dog.
In any event -- seeing this full coated female recently achieve KKL2 rating made me hopeful.

You shouldn't have any trouble w/a KKL2(from a coat standpoint), but you won't get a 1...but who cares ?

I'd be thrilled with a KKL2 actually.
Her dam is a KKL2 and sire is a KKL1 with an SG conformation rating.
Charlie -- interesting Czech breed you referred to. I had never heard of them. The one in the thread is beautiful.

Congratulations Katie!!!
Jennie, I covet your sable on the left in the piccy.
I respect the breed standards - now more than ever. I totally understand how it feels to be excited about your dog's positive qualities, and thinking of what the pups might be like.
I'm very glad that in our case, mother nature took hold, and we didn't end up with a litter. The standards for the breed are very high, as they should be. While I think my 2 GSD's are THE BEST GSD's on the entire planet, I have to be realistic. The are very good dogs for their purpose. But in a big broad sense, they don't have anything truly special to add to the gene pool.
(mean time I still covet Jenni's dog! )

Wilfred Scheld is scheduled to do a conformation show at the HGH trial next October. That event is near Rushville NY. I'm not certain if he's doing a breed survey at that time too.
He would be a good judge to show under. If nothing else, the ring training will be good exercise for your dog.

I agree with you Beth -- the breed standards are very high and that is how it should be.
Charlie -- thanks for the info. I actually may check out a conformation show in Nov in Middleboro, MA. The judge is the Regional Breed Warden so that should be a good learning experience for me to see what it's all about.
