HI, I have been feeding my dogs Nature's Recipe, and I bought a few cans of Nature's Recipe and i was reading the ingredients and it sayed it had soybean and Rabbit by products included in it. Does any1 know anything about this food, or if those ingredients are good to feed your dog?

As far as I know, Nature's Recipe is made by the same company that sells IVD (Innovative Veterinary Diets) which is a line of 'prescription' pet food sold thru veterinarians. One of the allergen foods they carry has rabbit as the protein source for those people who have their dogs on an elimination diet. It's interesting that you have found a food that includes rabbit AND soy because soy is considered to be a main cause of allergies in dogs, along with things like corn and wheat.
You could treat this as one of those 'if it's not broken don't fix it' things (if your dog is doing fine, then why not stick with it.) IMHO there is nothing really wrong with Nature's Recipe foods. I just tend to stay away from food that contains suspicious ingredients but that is ENTIRELY me being overly-critical of ingredient labels (lol) My girl was actually on Nature's Recipe (Lamb/Rice/Barley) for a couple of years and did very well- until the frickin' store stopped carrying it.
Dogs surprise you sometimes. There are sport dogs out there that are fed the cheapo Costco/Co-op junk and do just fine. Go figure.
well thanks very much Corey for your reply! It really helped me a lot. I really appreciate it! And so far my dogs are doing good on it, i was just woried about the soy, and rabbit by products.

You're most welcome.
Just a caveat- if the rabbit in your dogs' food is listed as "rabbit byproducts" this doesn't neccesarily mean your're buying a food containing rabbit meat. They could be using ANY part of the rabbit. Again, you know your dogs. They might do very well on their current food, who knows? (But I'd be tempted to find a food that doesn't contain byproducts... )
Yeah, I dont like giving them food with by products, butthe number 1 ingredient is rabbit, and then it has rabbit by-products also. But isnt soy meal hard for dogs to digest? Does it really even serve a purpose for dogs?
