I have a female that is due in 7 days and she has a very, very dark green gooey discharge coming from her vulva. Her behavior, eating, drinking and attitude are all the same. I am taking her to the vet in the morning and I read online that this could be her losing her mucous plug, a pup that's pooped in utero, or a dead puppy, or a uterine infection. It's not a ton of goo. It came out and dried over her vulva and got on her leg fur. I wiped it all off and it doesn't seem to be coming out anymore.
Anyone ever had this? I'm not sure if I should freak out or not.

I had never heard of a mucous plug that could be described as a dark green gooey discharge.
The breeders on the forum will probably see this and respond.
Me -- I'd call the vet NOW. It's good that you are going in the morning.
It is common for females to have a dark green discharge at the onset of whelping. I've never heard of it a week before delivery.
Are you sure you have her correct due date?
Does the discharge have a vile smell?
Is her temperature normal?
She tied on the 17th and 18th day of Dec so Feb 25th would be 62 days. So if the gestation period is 54-62 days then it's pretty close to 54 days. I just took her temperature and it's at 99. Crap.
She doesn't seem to be nesting. There is no smell from the discharge. I called the emergency vet and he gave me that mumbo jumbo about not being able to diagnose things over the phone. He basically said that if she goes into labor early than she goes early and there's nothing you can do to stop it so there's not much I can do.
By my calculations if she tied on the 17th, 9 weeks/63 days is on the 18th. I've counted it 5 times and it always comes up on the 18th.
I've seen females do no nesting and give no other signs before welping. Get ready.
Dark green discharge is typically a sign of fetal distress. It's called Meconium, and if this was my female she would be at the vet ASAP especially if she is not showing any signs of active labor when you observe the discharge.

I'm leaving for the vet in a few minutes, I checked my record book and it actually was Dec 23rd and 24th that she tied. So Feb 25th would be 62 days. So she's 7 days away from her due date. Any advice on what you would do if your vet recommended a c-section? I'd like to let nature take its course, but not at the expense of the puppies....
