Im in training with no distractions now and in house he will listen(do)everything right.We have a fenced back yard and Im letting him out sometimes without the collar late at night.Recall is great w/collar(nothing done)without the collar he barks and bounces back and fourth and doesnt come.Same with our 10 year old,with collar off he jumps all over him collar on doesnt bother him
He also will act complety behaved for a whole walk after the (first) correction on his heeling training.Is that normal?His come command with the vib pager has been flawless since day one with the pager(vibe)function but without the collar on he jumps on two feet back and fourth like he is saying I know u cant get me ha ha
Did you acclimate him to the collar first? Have him wear it on and off for several weeks before you started training with it?
That is the stage I am in now. Ava wears it but I do not use it. Sometimes all day, sometimes on and of 3-4 times a day. Tonight she is sleeping with it on.

Joe,
As long as you move the collar every two to four hours while the dog is wearing it, you will be okay.
I always check my dogs necks, especially when first introducing them to the collar, for any signs of irritation and have never had any problems.
Also, when I take the collar off the dog, I always give them a good petting and scratching of the neck area. They seem to enjoy it and it also allows me to feel for anything out of the ordinary.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
ok Joe;
You are doing what a large majority of people do,,,,,,using a command without the ability to back it up if it goes wrong. Timing with an e collar is so much easier, so you are able to catch the dog sooner when not complying,,my guess is that is why the dog is picking up on when the collar is on or not. Are you in the intermittment reward phase of training? ARe you rewarding the dog 3 times in a row, then 1 time without and then again 3 times in a row (example of intermittment reward)You need to have progressed thru this stage before you are using the command without the collar being on. Otherwise you teach the dog to listen sometimes and not others. Does this makes sense?
