Just wondering--what kind of obedience can you expect from a very high-drive (food,prey)10 wk old malinois pup? We've had him two weeks and think he's very special so we were wondering what's typical? Can any of you give me an idea about where the pup should be?
It all depends on how good of a trainer you are and what you have done.....I don't beileve there is a "typical" level of training for such a young puppy. My pup was doing amazing obd at 10 weeks, at least to me anyway... to a super trainer mabey not so good.... it's all relitive.

sit and down for food/toy. I had mine sit and bark for food to imprint that behavoir (for blind search). From my understanding you don't train puppies but imprint them. SO, I guess triaing starts for reall about 6 months.
I might add, set your expectations high. The more you expect from your puppy, the more you will get.
Very good point! I agree with this 100%. You just have to remember, if he can't hit your goal, it's not his fault, it's yours! Why? Because it's your goal, and your job to get him there! LOL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
