Ok,
This is a new one for me...... I have a 5 month old Greman Line GSD for the most part is great. I have worked in keeping a good pack structure in my home and he is very smart, learns very fast, loves to work and stay busy. But there a two things that bad....1)he likes to mouth and nip at my hands and arms. And I try to redirect and if it does not work I coerrect him by grabbing his muzzle and pinching his lip to his teeth and that puts him in a higher drive, and then and if that does not work he goes in his crate. But today for the second time he went totally bazzurk (Crazy) Running around three times faster than nornmal, jumping on and off the couch, airborn lungeing at me, and bitting along the way...totaly nuts...all most to the point of no control....Is this something anyone has ever seen or delt with at all and if so what can I do about it?
Thanks Bob

One thing that I learned a good trick Make a high pitched squeel.
Like ouch but like your a women who is getting her purse stolen. That works for my puppy. Or redirect him with something he is aloud to bite and chew on. Do you have any of the DVDS if not I dont know how to link but someone will and add it.
8 weeks to 8 months
Bacis obience
And there are other that would very good for you to get.
But that is the best advice I can give you

Hi Bob,
Sounds like you have a gator at your house...awesome!!
Have you tried tethering him to you while you have him out? This way you can work on house manners and it will prohibit the running around crazy.
Also, how much exercise does the pup get? What type of routine do you have?
What are your plans for this dog?

Hi Bob,
my pup will do this too - at 9 months thank you very much getting way too big for that.
We generally have him tethered but sometimes in our wisdom we think "hey he's been calmer lately lets give it a go having him off leash"
Always a bad idea and yet we still forget.
So yep I've had experience with craaaaazy running around, launching off things, coming in for bite/snap and zooming off again. He loves it, it's his favourite game that he doesn't get to play often.
So our cure is to keep him tethered and try to keep him exercised enough that he's too tired to do it in the house - he also does it in the park but more running and less coming in to take a bite. It definitely is worse when we don't walk him enough - even on the tether he tries to do it, but gets pulled up short very quickly.
And on the days we do forget and let him off leash and he goes nuts we usually just give him some time out in his crate to calm down. But we still have to remind him later when he comes out that he's tethered now and can't zoom around like before.

ah, the little heathens we pay money for Sounds like my first week with my current dog!
Remember, a tired pup is a good pup!
What kind of toys do you have? One thing that worked for me was this one toy that was battery operated - turn it on and it shook.

I also would attach a tug toy http://www.leerburg.com/1153.htm
to a rope and spin it in a circle in the backyard for her to chase after. Basically, I would just tire the bugger out as soon as I got home, and any time the energy level started to get out of hand. Lots and lots of play. and I always had a leash attached, at all times when she was out.

Great advice you have recieved I cannot add much other than I do not recommend squeeling or yelping. Squeeling and/or yelping does nothing but increase drive in a lot of pups or dogs. Instead of sounding like a wounded playmate you sound like a dying prey item.
This sounds like normal puppy play behavior, if he is 5 months or so he is likely in the middle of teething, pups can get a bit ornery during this time or after a tooth has come through they get a crazy streak because they feel better.
If you want to control the behavior keep a leash or drag line on the pup. At this age/stage I still have a pup tethered 24/7 which minimizes the leverage they can get in jumping, lunging, and whatnot. It is a crazy time but thats just how some pups are
