Hi Everyone:
Would you guys offer me your opinion on the dog food
Taste of the Wild. It is a grain free food. My dog has an
allergy to wheat. She was on Science Diet lamb and rice and
hates it. So I bought a bag of Taste of the Wild and mixed it
in the Science Diet so as not to shock her system. Now thinking
of switching to the Taste of the Wild but am a little concerned
as manufactured by Diamond Foods. Your Thoughts?
Thanks

Thanks Julie: This dog food dilema has me pulling my hair out.
Glad your gang is doing well on the Taste of the Wild. I'm also
considering "Blue". My brain in getting tired on analizing dog
food ingredients thats why I'm looking for some opinions. Thanks
so much for yours.

Hi Betty,
I haven't fed Taste of the Wild, but here's my view on kibbles.
Grain-free. Although this is not anywhere near the same as feeding raw, it's a close as you can get with a kibble.
So that means, no corn or wheat, no rice, no barley, no oats. Potato is OK.
Because of my current financial situation, I have been feeding mostly kibble for the past few months. I rotate the kibbles on a monthy or bi-weekly basis, depending on what size bag I buy. (I rotate between grain-free kibbles, and my dog does not have a problem w/ stomach upset)
I also add yogurt and salmon oil and vit.'e' on a daily basis.
I use:
Orijen Adult
Wellness Core (regular and fish)
EVO
Barking at the Moon
I've been feeding it since last year when my Rott had some health problems. It has a lower protein content then the other grain free foods. He is doing very well on it. I rotate the three varieties feeding the fish formula mostly.
Didnt Diamond have a problem with corn in their cheaper foods? No problem like that with a food that doesnt have that in it.
I had an eating issue with my dogs as well. Although it had nothing to do with allergies I was directed by some very good folks on this site to switch from science diet to Wellness core. I am happy to say that I rushed the transition a little bit because I was running out of SD. My dogs love the Wellness Core and there was no stomach upset issues at all. My feeding problem is all fixed.
Lynne: I thought I was dog food nuts. I admire your tenacity
in feeding what you do and your ability to keep it all straight.
My age tells me I need a simpler solution.
Steve: Diamond did have a problem a while back with grains.
but as you said, if no grains, no problem.
Alec: I will have to read up on Wellness and where to buy and
see how that compares with Taste of the Wild.
This dog food stuff is soooooo confusing.
Thanks all

Angela: And to think Science Diet was recommended by my Vet and
yes he sells it. No more..I should have listened to her when
she snubbed her nose at it. Live and learn.
Steve: Thats a good point, I may try them all, I guess mixing
it up really doesn't hurt there tummies.
Thanks
