Does anybody use the british slip lead? I was curious if the leather tab that adjusts the collar stays fairly well or slips. I volunteer at a humane society and a lot of the dogs need some serious work with their leash skills. I always start out with the regular slip leads right behind their ears but they slip down real fast and I'm not always in the mood to wrestle with and get dragged by a 60-90 lb hyper dog(repeatedly). I looked into the collar Cesar Milan uses but they want $40 for it and it just looks like too much "stuff" on the dog's neck.

I'm probably not the best one to answer due to lack of experience... but have you looked into the Leerburg Dominant Dog collar? It stays tight on the neck and doesn't slip down. You just have to measure it right but the video is very helpful. Very cheap, especially compared to the difference it makes!

The main advantage of the british slip leads I've seen is that they are easily resized for each dog. The downside is that I've noticed the leather or nylon bit that holds it in place tends to wear quickly which leads to them slipping again. Personally we just use the cheap 25 cent kennel leads at work. They're super cheap (sold by the dozen)and generally speaking work well.
Another factor to keep in mind is that many many shelters do not allow choke collars of any kind. Most of the ones around here use the gentle leader no pull harnesses (the kind that clip in the front) or the stupid head halter.
I've used the Dominant Collar from Leerburg on my GSD as well as one of my house rescues and they work great. Even though they can be sized to the dog's neck, they work well on a variety of K9's. Very nice, effective product!
