While I'm getting the raw food for all three dogs, the pittyx cries and whines. I tell her to stop and she does but then starts up again. They all sit right by me when I'm getting the food ready. I'm thinking I need to make them all stay further back and put her in a down stay. I crate feed the hyper one first (boxer/frenchyx), then her(crate) and then my labx on a towel. Would it help to put them all in a crate and then feed? The labx doesn't stay in a crate at this time, but I have decided to purchase an additonal crate as he's been getting into things while we're not home. I'd been leaving him out since my daughter was coming home from school alone. She felt safer having him loose in the house, (No bad guys hiding in the house that way I guess.)

3 of mine are fed in the crates or in the dog runs. That way I don't have to worry about any kind of behavior and I can laugh at the different noises coming out of them. The one Shepherd has a pretty good range.

I'm of no help. I usually try to amp my dog up more than he is.
His buzzwords are hungry, food, eat, and grub.
Dogs love eating. It is a huge distraction. If they aren't up for that kind of distraction, and the excitement bothers you, I'd put 'em up while you get food ready.
There are plenty of real world circumstances where controlling over-excitement around food are useful, but for me, I let the dogs have meal time.

While I'm getting the raw food for all three dogs, the pittyx cries and whines. I tell her to stop and she does but then starts up again. They all sit right by me when I'm getting the food ready.
I have an invisible circle around me and the bowls. I stop the preparation if there is any obnoxious noise and stare at the one who let slip the moans of anticipation.
You would be surprised how quickly cessation of food prep connects to the noise and the noise stops. (You must stand like a statue to make clear that zero food is being prepped.)
It took a while of stopping prep to remind each one about the circle, too.
But food drive is a wonderful thing. My dogs catch on quite quickly to any behavior that slows down the delivery.

Michael, I know what you mean about enjoying the feeding. Before I switched to raw, kibble was just there for them. Now I get a big kick over the way they really enjoy food. The whiner(pitty mix) food guards, she was guarding a garbage can today it had the discarded turkey wrapper at the bottom.
Steve, yesterday she was whining and making those odd noises I said "Say mama" She made a noise that sounded like "Mama" I kid you not.
Somehow I've got to use the food drive and have her do this while we're practicing or probably with a toy. She seems to have a toy drive is there such a thing?
Connie,I will try what you said. Today, since it's a big food prep day, I am enforcing the rule of no dogs behind the counter/island while anyone is preparing food. They all get it very well. I'm thinking the stop prep trick will hit home quite well.

My dogs scream when they know it's mealtime. My male is unbelievable in both range & loudness. They do know that to get the food put in front of them they need to be quiet for about 1/2 minute. My neighbors think that my dogs are NUTS!!! Nothing like high food drive, especially when you feed raw. :-)

I have a screamer too. LOL. He is worse when he's crated and can't see the "excitement". I used Connie's trick (no food prep if there is screaming happening) and now he stands like a wide-eyed, drooling statue and you can see visibly that he's working soooo hard at containing himself.
I used to laugh, because he is so funny, but that *doesn't* help.

Yes, I have a screamer too. He's the one who sublimates the screaming into vibrating all over while he sits and waits.

It worked out great all I have to do is point and say "out" when I'm behind the counter and they all scram and sit at the very closest spot allowed. Now after I send them out if they approach or wine I stop the prep. It's hilarious. Yes, I have a screamer too. He's the one who sublimates the screaming into vibrating all over while he sits and waits. This is too funny! My boxerx quivers and his bottom jaw silently opens and closes. He looks like a puppet. I agree with Angela laughing doesn't help. Sometimes it's like trying not to encourage a goofy child, you have to laugh on the inside. Then the human shaking begins it's like a viscious cycle of dog quivering and human shaking.

I have one that sites perfectly but stares without blinking and moans...
the other one stares and drools...makes me feel like I'm the meal!
A screamer must be hilarious...talk about pressure
