So while I wait for the warm weather Ryuk and I have been doing some canine freestyle (stop laughing...I know you are) to work on some obedience. Recently he's added a new move to his "dance", a sort of series of little bouncing rears much like the levade in a horse. I liked this move (because he was doing it to the beat of the music) and would like to encourage it, the problem is he is slamming down hard on his front legs. I'd like to adjust the move so it actually is more like a horse's levade where the weight is on the back end and he simply taps the ground with his front legs.
How would I go about doing this? I've started teaching him to hop on three legs (with a front leg up) which forces him to get some muscle memory puting his weight on his back end when he goes up and it's sort of working but...anyone have any other ideas?
for those of you who want to know what canine freestyle is....I love this routine
I should also note i have no intention of actually performing....but my dog needs to keep learning things to not be destructive and this is at least fun.
Betty,
Be glad that we didn't video tape the session when Doc ( Betty's large, powerful, and sometimes "willfull" GSD male ) drug you along the training field apache-style for 25 feet.....
Come to think of it, we could have filmed that particular stunt several times.......
Not to mention Princess Weasel de-clothing you several times on training days.
Betty worked hard to keep all all amused.....not intentionally, of course!
