Was just putting the dog to bed after his final pit stop outside for the night. I told him to "kennel" and followed behind to lock him in. Unfortunately the poor beast nosed the door open to hard because it smacked the side and whacked right back into his head.... At which point he STARTLED and used my bare foot as a spring board to launch himself away from the crate full throttle. OUUUCCCHHH!! I now have three GSD toenail-sized holes in the top of my foot. As I examine my poor little swollen foot, I realize- With my dog up to 70 pounds and still growing, this is just the beginning... Big dog = BIG ACCIDENTS! I am a small, clumsy human being. Wonder what I'm in for next.
So how many broken noses, toes, and black eyes have you all accumulated over the years from random doggy mishaps?

I have had many toenail foot connections.
Over Zealous labs that run into me full throttle and reverse my knee cap.
Friendly Mal head butts right in the mouth.
Fingers caught in prongs while the dogs moving about.
A 100+ pound dog that got his paw caught between my bumper and license plate, no one to help hold him up while I removed his paw...not fun..Beware!

Oh that sounds painful!!! The worse I've gotten from Falcon was when he was a younger pup and too enthusiastic about his flying squirrell, he jumped up and caught my arm a few times by accident. It hurt like HECK and left a nasty bruise, but nothing broken. Now if we talk horses, I came off one time and ended up with a pelvis broken in two places and a broken rib... waaaaaaaaa!

It all sounds painful. I've experienced the toenail thing. My favorite injury is an accidental head bump or a snoot to the face.
Although, I have to admit that you haven't lived until you've been dragged on your belly down an icy (and fairly public) sidewalk or have caught big air at the end of a longline.
My dog (and his predecessors) falls into the "lummox" category. Adolescence was a bit.....trying.

One time I got a little bit of a black eye from bending over to pet her when she offered me a very cute wiggle butt sit.
Another time she nearly broke my hand trying to catch a snowball BEFORE i got a chance to throw it!

Ed Frawley described getting his two front teeth knocked out by a young GSD. Said he wondered how the dog put gravel into his mouth.
A dog has alot of friends because he wags his tail instead of his mouth.

I have yet to be badly bitten by a dog although I've been horribly bitten by rabbits, cavies, a cat, and mice. I have had a few close calls though in my line of work.
The worst I've ever had was a tailbone bruise that was all the shades of the rainbow from a very happy golden retriever named Elmo. He decided getting out of the tub was the precise time to say hello with all 90 lbs of himself vs my bad knee.

I have gotten numerous fat & cut lips & knee damage teaching recalls, formal front positions & happy 'hello's, from all my dogs at one time or another. My hands & fingers have been shreaded doing tug work, especially with my female who is lightening fast.
My female reditected onto my leg as a 8 mo old during bite training. To her a bite is a bite. LOL In this case my leg when her frustration was thru the roof with her crazy drive & she couldn't get to the decoy.
My male has done the most damage: a torn bicep muscle, sprained shoulders, a chunk of meat ripped out of my finger that needed stitches from being caught on the top of the prong coller when he jumped into the crate in the truck before I told him to, numerous sprained fingers & wrists when teaching him to heel when he is bouncing up & down in excitement wanting his ball reward.
I guess that it all just goes with the territory.
The horses.....well we just won't even go there.

... a chunk of meat ripped out of my finger that needed stitches from being caught on the top of the prong coller when he jumped into the crate in the truck before I told him to...
I have got to say, above and beyond the bloody noses from poorly timed bending down to pick up toys/balls, toenails to the top of the foot, and even being clothes-lined by longlines - the finger caught in the prong collar was the WORST! It's only happened to me once, but I will forever think twice before I grab that collar to make sure I get a hold of only the chain... DANG! You could so easily loose a finger that way under the right conditions...
I did almost break a finger when I fell down on an icey sidewalk while walking a friend's newly adopted dog... the dog was not at all at fault though, and to his credit, as flighty as he is, he didn't bolt when the stranger walking him crashed to the ground behind him... and it's a good thing because the leash slipped out of my sprained hand when I hit the ground...
