Hello-
I have a 13 week old GS puppy and want to start him on a raw diet. I was wondering what to do if you cannot locate chicken backs in our area? Is a whole cut up chicken- minus the drumsticks for now- just as good? I found gizzards, wings, but just no backs. Any recommendations?
THANKS!!
Wholesale restaurant supplier is the best source if you can find one. You need to be able to store 40# cases amounts of food if you purchases there, though. I get 3-4 40# cases of necks, backs, leg qtrs, port neck & 10# rolls of ground meats there. It's hard to beat $ .30 lb for RMBs. I buy fresh RMBs & bag them up in meal size packages & freeze. I usually go every 3 months. I purchase 200- 250lbs at a time. Call around, & see if you can find that kinds of source. You might even check into raw feeder web sites & see if you can find some that is interested in sharing orders if you can't store an entire box of something. I did that the first couple of times that I bought from the wholesaler, as I had a smaller old freezer at that time & that was 4 years ago. When my old freezer died, I got a much bigger freezer & can store it all myself.
