I've been using prong collars with all my dogs for walks and training. I love them. However, my smallest one has about a 7" neck and the prong collar that I got (mini?) is difficult to manipulate. If I fit it to correctly so that it stays right behind his ears, I have a real problem getting it off without hurting him. If I put one link back on, the collar shimmies down his neck to far. Is there some trick to using the small prong? I've been using it a little too loose so that I don't pinch him trying to get it off.
I'd buy a quick release one if there was one!

I bought the micro mini for my MinPin whose neck is only about 7". I had to take off some of the chain because the chain was covering more of the neck that the prongs!
Since I got the one with a swivel ring it was easy to bend the ring open and I removed 6 links of chain on each side of the swivel. It fits better now, but I have it fairly loose on the dog and it still sits low on her neck. However, I am happy with the amount of correction I achieve with it in this position - it doesn't take much for her.
If I felt she was starting to need more, I would fit the collar in the correct spot, but I would need to remove more chain for this to work. I don't think I will ever need to.
I have been using it mostly for walking without pulling and she learned that almost immediately on the first walk with the collar.
Cheers,
Ci
I'm not comfortable with the collar being too low on his neck. If I remove one more link, it's ridiculously too hard to get off. So, I'll try the small prong mentioned by Niomi.
On a positive note, the prong has really helped bring this little guy under control. Before on walks he would GO CRAZY barking at other dogs. No, not at all. It's worth the trouble to get one that fits, if I can.
