I am a long time lurker but this is my first post because most of my questions have been answered on other posts. I have a 3-year-old female fixed boxer (maybe) mix, Aiya, and a 5-month old female Rhodesian Ridgeback, Riley, who has not been fixed yet. So far, they get along great but I am curious if I should expect any behavior changes between the two dogs while Riley is going thru her heat cycle. I plan to let her go thru at least one before having her spayed.
LOL
she will most likely be moody, not want to pay attention to you, be a little more "independant" maybe even start trying to move up on the pecking order. They call them BI's for a reason But that is just my experiance. It may be completely different for you. Here is a link all about the "side effects"

Mine gets even more intense when doing PP work. I didn't think that she could be anymore intense than she alreadsy is when in work. Other than that...not really any other change except that she becomes more tollerent of my male, who usually she just puts up with.

Just a question, is there any reason why you want her to have a heat cycle before spaying? My girl goes strange, sorta moody and uninterested in anything just sorta different for a little while.
