I need something like that, but smaller. I had a giant out of control black lab mount Mucha, then me(!) at the beach tonight while his owners just yelled "here Tito!" over and over. Then they tried to explain that "he doesn't get out much". He got a good kick from me although I was only wearing flip flops. They didn't even have a leash with them and he growled at the dude when he went to grab his collar. Morons.
I'm really not attempting to be snarky. I've been off the boards for some time now and don't want to start a war; but, I don't believe many of us are under much threat from fruits and vegetables or compliant attackers.
In the past I advocated a hardwood staff with a ferrule. I just googled "walking staff ferrule" and came away with a goodly number of rubber, steel, and retractable tip models. This way you have a fair reach at a troublesome dog. It's not a weapon and there's no advertisements for an attorney to claim you were itching for a chance to show off your offensive weapon. It's just a walking stick that you use for your balance or because your back sometimes gives you trouble {wink-wink nudge-nudge}
The sjambok is devastating!! Had a male pit come after me and my pup, one golf swing later the dog was done! Leg broke in three places. Tragic for the dog, but the dog was loose and had every intention to attack. The owner came out and of coarse got irrate and called the sheriff, I sat and waited patiently, 50 minutes later he was arrested for dagerous animal at large and treatening to kill me. oops!! I don't recommend treatening a person with the deputy right there. Then he tacked on resisting arrest.
I go to the cold steel parking lot sale every year its totally worth the trip nearly 70% off everything. Will got a wish list? PM me!!!
WHEN I SEE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL, I'D BE WILLING TO DIE PROTECTING IT.
