So I have a new dog shampoo (advertised as one to encourage a healthy "luxurious coat"....so I should have seen this coming -_-) that I just used to give Ryuk a bath...it made him fluffy, I mean he's puffed out like a cotton ball and looks pretty stupid....even the super short hair on his legs is all puffed. We're supposed to be training with a new group tommorrow and call me shallow but I don't want a cotton ball XD
I tried brushing him flat, I tried soaking him down again to make sure the shampoo is out...he still dries out into a fluffball
is there something I can do to smooth him out or do I just need to wait it for him to roll in something gross again and get dirty?
Also, since I'm also doing his nails, is there any standard for cutting dew claws other than not quicking them?
This made me snort Jamie, I'm sorry!!! LOL!!! Ryuk is sportin' a little canine afro - you gotta' take a picture!! All that came to mind was olive oil - probably NOT the right thing but it's all I got!!! Besides snortin' at you and your pupper!! Heheheheeee... Come on, we want a pic of puffy puppy!!

I will not make any suggestions unless a picture is forthcoming. LOL
Then I will suggest a tiny amount of edible-quality coconut oil or people's creme rinse rubbed into your palms and then smoothed over him.
But if you use human creme rinse, you will need to bathe him again after the big debut because of the pH issue. Also, don't glop it on; he'll be gross. Rub a little of it into your palms and smooth it on. (You can always repeat.)

EVOO would be OK, too, from a health-of-hair-and-skin standpoint, but having actually used coconut oil on dogs, I already know it won't be all yucky and greasy, and I'm not positive about the olive oil. Still, you can try the same deal with a little on your palms, etc., etc.
As I'm drying him off this second time it seems a little less dramatic. His neck and shoulders are very puffy but at least this time he doesn't look like he's wearing pantaloons on the back end....
I have some of that coconut oil from a gift basket, if he's still fluffy in the front tommorrow I'll try that XD thanks Connie!
Hey! My olive oil wasn't that far off - cool!!! ('Course I would have suggested the cheap Walmart mess vs Connie's fancy EVOO, but then, she eats the dark, dark chocolate and I like milk chocolate with caramel!! :grin
