Jethro just turned 2 in February. He is some sort of shepherd mix, we aren't exactly sure (lab?, mastiff?, anatolian?). He was 45 lb. at 4 months. I weighed him a couple of weeks ago, and he was 89 lb, pretty much holding steady for several months. People have been commenting lately on how he is starting to broaden out, getting more stocky and mature looking, and less lanky. Out of curiosity, I weighed him this morning and he was 91 lb.! His diet and exercise routines have not changed. Is it normal for dogs to broaden out as they near maturity (by the age of 3 or so?). Or should I be feeding him less?
In all other respects he is healthy, has good energy, loves to run and jump, playful, etc. and will go any distance.
I can't really tell by the picture, could you post a link to some pix? If its muscle they look contoured and defined, if its fat, they look more and more smooth and blobish. Picture Bruce Lee vs Andrew Zimmern.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
