Is anyone here avoiding gluten, dairy, wheat, corn, peanuts, etc.?
I'd love to read about symptoms and results. And what finally made you try it.

YES, gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant....and intolerant of starches and sugar too. When I learned about raw feeding my dog, I got into human nutrition too.
I have a protein type metabolism. Read: The Metabolic Typing Diet by Trish Fahay and William Wolcot
I also get a lot of info from mercola.com
I used to get colds all the time, sinus infections, bloating, constipation, eczema, acne, hypoglycemia....etc. Now not only is all of that gone, I don't get sick anymore with colds and bugs, AND my hair is thicker with more pigment (darker auburn now) and wavy. I have back problems but they are much less than when I was eating all that inflammatory crap.
Exercise plays a role in this as well fyi.

Not an intolerance, but I have a dairy allergy. I started dairy free when I had some frozen yogurt and was sick for three days. Not traditional sick, but extremely fatigued, sluggish, bloated and achy. I couldn't do much but lay around. I have always had a history of not feeling well after eating. I was always bloated, and heartburn and extremely tired.
I mentioned it to my chiropractor, and he told me to start with dairy. Take that out of my diet, then if I want I can try gluten. It's absolutely the dairy. I never feel sick anymore, I have so much more energy and even my migraines have decreased. I'm probably not even going to try the gluten because I feel so much better dairy free.
I do have a sugar intolerance but I don't have a sweet tooth so it's not a huge deal for me. Same symptoms as the dairy allergy, but it REALLY amplifies my allergy symptoms and I'll be sick for days.
It's seriously been a life changing experience. I've never before had my body truly feeling GOOD.

We avoid artificial sweeteners at all costs. We have a family member that will sneak splenda, etc. into desserts and salads in the name of "health" and aside from the known terrible effects; it causes severe bladder irritation in my daughter - UTI symptoms with no infection and more painful than anything she can describe. She's my tough one and it causes hours of tears and stomach pain. My other daughter gets frightfully sick to her stomach from it and throws up for the rest of the day.
We isolated it to the sweeteners by food logging and realized the common connection was at family dinners and when grandpa would try to be nice and sneak them some diet mountain dew as a treat.
We also avoid citrus fruit due to the acidic nature and a history of bladder issues in our family (IC)

How did you find out it was lactose? You have no problem with the no-lactose milk?
I'm suspecting dairy, but maybe more than just lactose ....

I stay away from most process food. When there is most stabilizer and preservative and what not then actual food.
I am allergic to Nitrate and sulfate. found in most nuts and dryed fruits or hotdogs, even wine. I can actually take some but if I past a certain amount I get rashes.
I think that I would die if I had to cut gluten and dairy.

I have had the symptoms you describe. Exactly. Including feeling fine in the a.m. until I ate.
I assumed gluten. But I started by eliminating wheat and dairy. Many symptoms GONE. Added back in a little wheat. Many symptoms still GONE. Starting to think that after a lifetime of being a milk-drinker, I can't drink it any more.

Lactose is a fermatable sugar, so level of lactose get very low in cheese, yogurt, kefir or any cultured dairy not ice cream
So many lactose intolerant can have some cheese and yogurt. Alergic people react to a proteine so they have to stay away from all dairies.

I hear ya.
I cannot believe I am not drinking milk, or putting it in coffee, or on oatmeal. But the results so far are shockingly fast and good. The FIRST DAY I saw results, and I wasn't even looking for any so fast.
