About a week ago Logan was suddenly lame on his front leg. I assumed he had just twisted it while spinning or something...it was his elbow that was hurting him.
At the same time I found an engorged lone star tick on him. I took his temp and it was normal, (I was worried about lyme). Today he is lame again, I can't remember which front leg it was, so Idk if its the same one and it wasn't fully healed yet and I should have restricted him longer.
I'm worried about it...last time I had given him Ledum Palustre 1m anyway in case...he improved quickly. That was the last of it, so I've re-ordered it from amazon. I'm just worried about Lyme disease. Do they ALWAYS have a fever with Lyme?? Or can they be lame without any other symptoms?
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Tresa, have you had him tested for Lymes? Around here you can have the vet do a Snap test for Lymes for about $50 and the results are immediate.
I have 2 Lymes Positive dogs that have never had symptoms (Shyner and Tyra). The Lymes test is included with our yearly Heartworm test, that's the only reason I even know they are positive.
If he was my dog, I think I would have him tested and go from there. Lymes can present in so many different ways.
Hope all turns out well for you, and he's feeling better soon.

If you scroll down to Symptoms and Types, you'll see that lameness is number one, and then there's a list of other symptoms that may or may not be present.
QUOTE:
Many dogs with Lyme disease have recurrent lameness of the limbs due to inflammation of the joints. Others, meanwhile, may develop acute lameness, which lasts for only three to four days but recurs days to weeks later, with lameness in the same leg, or in other legs. Better known as “shifting-leg lameness,” this condition is characterized by lameness in one leg, with a return to normal function, and another leg is then involved; one or more joints may be swollen and warm; a pain response is elicited by feeling the joint; responds well to antibiotic treatment.
I haven't had him tested BUT I am treating him for it. I think he does have it :-( Some lympth glands in his neck feel slightly larger and he acts achy all over. He is acting tired (for him). He was exposed to it several years ago and was successfully treated for it afterwards with Ledum Palustre 1M...has always had a negative titer every year (I always have him tested).
So I am hoping it works again...I had to order the stuff myself because my holistic vet is gone. Idk if he doesn't start improving I'll have him treated with anti-biotics too. I may just have him tested and have some bloodwork done to be sure his renal function is ok. My dog Sport had renal failure from Lyme. I'm worried because he puked this morning, but his appetite has been normal. Idk I am just so worried about him.

Self treatment w/o a proper diagnosis can be worse then not treating at all. He may have something else. There are a number of tick born diseases & others that present with Lyme type symptoms that are not Lyme or related to Lyme.
Take him to the vet & have him tested & treated accordingly.
He's going to the vet now. He was laying down and didn't want to get up at all and he does have a temp now. I hope the remedy has just kick started his immune system but I'm having his tested for tick diseases and have them do a blood panel too, that's probably what they will recommend. Then go from there.
