Since we stop going to the part for the girls to run we started to go in the bkie for their daily excersise, we stared just around the block for 5-10 min aprox, a mile or so, currently we are on 4 miles aprox or 30 min.
We (my sister and i) started really slow we "walked" the girls on the bike and expect little to no runs.
When we try to run they begin to run like a crab, running "straight" but pulling their front feets away from the bike....I dont know how to explain this movement.
Havanna only "runs" when not tied to the bike, but because we live in the middle of the city and the nearest park is a bit away from home, she need to be tied.
My problem is we want them to stop that crab run and for they to start enyoing the bike rides. Thanks in advice

Logan does that too....but his back is real short compared to his legs and that might be why he sideways trots. If they had their fronts toward the bike I'd say they're trying to keep an eye on where the bike is but that's backwards. Weird, idk why they're doing it.
Take my advice, do NOT tie the leash to the bike!!!!! Do not in any way attach the leash to the bike or to you (the only exception is bikejoring). If you attach the lead to the handlebars by tying it or looping the handle over, they can and will wreck you at one point. If you hold the handle of the leash, you can end up with a broken hand...trust me, don't do it. Letting go of the handle won't work, I couldn't let go fast enough. Result: Surgical pins being removed after my hand was badly broken biking my dog while HOLDING the leash handle.

I was just looking at some of the attachments to "safely" leash a dog to a bike but I'm concerned because my dog is quite frightened by bicycles and generally will try to get away from them.... It would take a lot of counter conditioning before I think she'd enjoy running next to a bike.

First the dog should be comfortable with the bike moving at some speed by itself.
Harley will do the sideway stuff when we are between speeds, too fast to walk too slow to really trot.
I hold the leash (6') in my hand or I have a safety snap that will break if there is a chock on the line but I used that when I have the dog pull in front.
There are some device that can be put on your bike. There is one (Sprenger) that is much better then the other ones and much more expensive but I have never tried it just have some friends that love it.

If your dog's front end is headed away from the bike instead of straight in a parallel then the dog is either pulling by his neck (big no no) or pulling by his harness (okay if that's what you want). It's a simple fix - Put him on a back clip body harness so that he can pull, and then a prong with a second leash attached. Start slow, any pulling is corrected if you don't want that. If you DO want to encourage pulling, put the dog up front (in front of the tire) and teach him how to pull properly. A body harness will be okay for short term but if you want your dog to tow you on the bike then you really need to look into bikejoring how-to and equipment. A regular, run of the mill body harness will cause physical damage to the dog if he's wearing it for sustained pulling.

They do pull with their necks, im looking for some nice bike-friendly-resist harness (anyone here knows the hurttas ones?).
I do not like them pulling the bike sideways...but i dont mind the pulling (bigger chest for Havanna YAY!!!)
Thanks for the comments ... i will use a harness and try to fix the problem of the pulling..
For the "I dont want to run" thing do you guys have an advice?

I just started my GSD on bike training. I thought it would take a few sessions to just get used to the bike and the attachment, but he took to it like a fish to water.
FYI, I use the "Walky Dog" that I got from Amazon for around $47. Here is my review of it on the blog I keep for my pup.

I use his agitation harness that is for his SccH protection work. It looks quite a bit like this Leerburg one:

Mine has rings on the side of the top handle which are perfect for attaching the Walky Dog to!

Ugh, the forum keeps eating my post!
Agitation harnesses are design for lunging, dogs usually leap a bit upward...isn't it designed for that?
I highly recommend a custom skijor harness...it can be used with a walkydog or out front. Logan has one I ordered from http://www.nordkyn.com. He has a skijor harness (don't get the plastic cinch, ask for a metal one).
If you decide to have the dog out in front, an x-back is the best for the dog.
Just whatever you do, DON'T attach the dog to you or the bike with a leash...UNLESS you are using a walkydog, springer or skijor tugline.
