Ok, so get This:
Somebody came by my desk this AM and showed me some PIX of their new Six WEEKS Old husky puppy...
Person proudly Proclaims: She's PART Wolf so We SPENT a Fortune for Her !!!
I ask, "How much Wolf is she?"
Person says, "One ancestor was 1/2 Wolf, and everything else is 100% husky, so she's got husky PAPERS".
I turn to my PC and play-type "www. FAKEpapersHere.com"...
Person asks, "What are you talking about?"
I say, "No part Something else can be ALL of Anything, by definition"...
Person insists : Well she's PURE-BLOOD husky and cost $2000 !!!
I roll my eyes while shaking my head

I actually get so angry when this happens - I despise scam "greeders", though obviously someone who goes out and spends $2000 on a dog without doing even a quick google search is just as bad, really.
The sad part is, most people have no idea what living with a husky entails, let alone a husky who has not been set up for success in the genetics department. So likely the dog will be rehomed/returned/in rescue by the time its 12 months old

Besides the stupidity, why do people feel the need to proudly proclaim how much a dog costs?!?
I mean "I got a purebred/papered xxx at a shelter for $100" could be brag worthy. I mean, heck, I got two registered with great working ability second hand Border Collies for free and $250. That's brag worthy. And I might tell people to show that you can get great diamond in the rough second hand dogs.
My nicely bred youngster? I paid a fair but not inexpensive price for him as a pup (though much cheaper than the above mentioned husky :P ). I've only brought up the cost on rare occasion when having a worthwhile conversation on how much you can expect to pay for a nice BC pup.

Of all the dogs I've had the good fortune to have had three "once in a lifetime dogs" as I put it.
First was my second childhood dog that was bought from and individual that was looking for a forever home because he was moving out of the State.
This was the dog that started me in dog training and also my "safe place" growing up.
Cost, free
Second was a Humane Society dog when I lost another.
Cost, I think was $25 at the time.
Third was my GSD that was recently put down due to health and age.
Cost, A very reasonable price for a working line GSD at the time.
Before and in between I've had some excellent owner handled, winning show dogs, some excellent owner handled, winning OB comp dogs, some excellent working terriers and a number of just plain old mutts and cross breeds.
Impossible to put a monetary value on any one of them because they couldn't be bought once I owned them.
......and a couple of them were to damn ugly to be worth a damn to anyone else.

Oh yes, I've owned lots of lovely show dogs & obedience competitors, and a few Field Champions of great distinction, all purchased at sensible prices (most originally deemed "pet quality" by their breeders) as young puppies back in the day 
My current 2 pictured below, I adopted as adults from Dobie Rescue for a very reasonable fee -- They were both abandoned & left for dead, but are each BEAUTIFUL dogs ... A little "baggage" here & there has all been worked through, and now I have two LOVING personal companions who double as Serious Guarddogs !!!
