I realise that this is a Working Dog forum, but I really appreciate the knowledge available here..........
I have a spayed Female 10 Month old Terrier X and have just got an 8 week old JR male pup (well - he's now 10 weeks old). They seem to get along pretty well and we separate them when we are not at home.
How much time should they spend together? - they play OK with toys & rough each-other up (under supervision!) etc - and the little guy even copies what the older female does (eg: she sits for meals - and so does he, just 'cos she did!!).
Both dogs get "their special time" with each of us, where we train (the older one only at the moment)& play etc.
Is there a chance that he will get dependent on her, or can they run around like this together without any problems?.
Thanks
No one would normally plan to fail, but plenty of us fail to plan!
My 16 month old GSD and the new puppy get along great. Lots of rough housing, supervised of course. Just keep an eye on both of them for a while and make sure the older dog get tons of loving from you along with the pup. Continue to spend time with them together and separatly. You sound like you're doing a great job.
