I think you find the majority of people on this board are not show line people. Not that that's bad. Just the way it is. Good luck in finding your answers.
Try the German Shepherd Web Board
for further information. the board's not Show folks per se, actually a mix of rescue, pet, show, working, and LE...but Show and Working breeders monitor the forum.
Post your question under the Breeding section in "Bloodlines & Pedigrees" and you should get responses quickly.

I hope i did not upset anyone with this question. the reason I asked is that I purchased a dog from a Kennel for personal protection and they sent me a Vando son. They told me he was a top working dog.Needless to say I am a little upset.
There are some tough show-line dogs out there. I've seen them myself. They're somewhat rare, but they do exist.
You're not talking about making this dog into a police service dog. A dog doesn't have to be super, super tough to do PP work except at very advanced levels. Unless the dog is very soft and/or fearful, you may be able to get respectable protection work out of him.

I hear you Pete but uh...hmmm...oh no....

He doesn't seem to be around today, so I figured I could get away with it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Robert V.C. can feel free to come over to my 'hood and tangle with my friend's dog Vedor anytime. Not that he'd want to. Vedor is a Lasso vom Neuen Berg grandson and about as serious as they come.
Nice pigment, too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
