Just curious as to who might own any dogs that have any of the Nachbarshaft lines in the breeding? I have an 8 mo. old puppy that is a grandson of Xato, a well known BSP participant. I'm curious as to any specific characteristics or traits exhibited in these lines that may be uniform. In other words, some people use the same breeders, or certain lines as they tend to breed for certain qualitites and traits and I would like to know if anyone can comment on this particluar line.
I just purchased a xato grandson 3 days ago. He will be here in three weeks or so. It already feels like I've been waitiing a month. The whole family is pretty excited about the new edition to the family. I think we may be going up there this weekend for a visit. It's my daughters birthday and she insisted. I was just wondering who your pups sire and dam are?
A friend of mine has a bitch that was his patrol dog, Mitzy v Tiekerhook, that is a Xato daughter. She's out of Xato and Byorka Tiekerhook. She's an awesome dog, very strong aggression, a little small, but a really good police dog.
Jim: my dog's sire is Brex vom Brachelor See and the dam is Vita von der Emsaue. Brex has Xato and Geisha vom Maichavelli on his side. Vita has Onyx von den Wannaer Hohen with lines to Blacky vom Neuen Lande, Gild, & Deika Fax. Vita's mother is Yackie von der Kopperpahlerllee with lines to Atze vom Zulpicher See, Orkan vom Stadtefeld, & Harro. I hope you enjoy your new puppy!
John: Those are well respected lines, I'm sure your friends have a nice dog.
I guess the reason I'm asking this in the first place is I'm trying to "read" my dog and his behaviors, and I was wondering if some of the things he does might be similiar or typical of other dogs with the same lineage. For example, I have a showline male that likes everyone and is a very friendly happy dog. However, my pup does not feel the need to have people greet him, he's not afraid of them, just indifferent. When we go for walks and he sees people he stops still and stares being very watchful. Occasionally he will begin barking. This is a dog that does not hide behind me barking and growling with a tucked tail and showing a lot of teeth. He is confident and usually straining into his collar out in front of me. I usually ignore this behavior and encourage him to keep walking with me. I truly believe he looks at all strangers as potential decoy's. In some regards he is much more laid back and independent then my other dog. When I first got him I thought he had zero prey drive, but now he has really come out. He has incredible food drive, and ball drive is getting better. He really likes to fight and roughhouse with me yet he seems to be aware of the rules of our play and has never hurt me. He fires up easily in protection training and will go after the decoy on an escape bite likes he's been shot out of a cannon. In addition, he has full hard grips. He is also a little handler soft and overall a very loving animal to me and my wife. I'm just wondering if if any of these traits are typical of the Nachbarshaft lines in general, or if it is just the primary difference between owning a showline dog and a dog from strong working lines. Thanks!
