Back in the day before I knew any better I did give a pup a ham bone on one occasion. They really aren't a problem for a small dog or pup to shatter, but they ARE salty and that can cause gastric upset.
I would say if you want to give the dog a bone you buy a nice raw meaty one from the store fresh. That's what I do.
I made a nice ham & cheesy potato soup with my ham bone. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Yeah but she really doesn't like soup. The dairy gets her really gassy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Just a thought for now, and we'll have venison bones this fall for her.
