I was curious as to if there is anything you can give a dog to ease it's dominance/aggression? I have 2 pit bulls 1 is a 2 yr old female and the other is a 10 month old male and he likes to nip at the lips of my female and sometimes he will stare her down, but i usually catch him before he can do anything.
Some people tell me to get him neutered, does this help at any means? Thanks for taking the time to read this - Krysta

Well, I just wrote you a long detailed post as I have alot of experience with this breed, and not your watered down AKC amstaff stuff, but when I posted the post it vanished and sent me back to an empty reply page, but anyways, Neutering won't help, and they must be seperated, if you PM me and leave me your phone number I can explain better what you should do, but I can't even think about typing all of what I had wrote again

Give your dogs to somebody that will provide a good home to them. That would be the first step in treatment.

Kyrsta you can keep asking people until you get an answer you like but it isn`t going to happen here. Find your dogs good homes and get over yourself.

Krysta,
I won't scold you, but you should not be owning dogs at this time. As Will R said it best, "Much less a pitbull". I have a wealth of knowledge and experience with these dogs, and they are "VERY" unforgiving for people who abuse and agitate them, and unforgiving to animals who attempt to dominate them through force or gestures (dog talk). You can brush this off if you want to, but you and your husband are pitbull victims in the waiting. When you least expect it you will be attacked by one or both. As I said before Pitbulls are extremely unforgiving. I have seen many pitbulls hold a grudge on someone who did them wrong and a month later out of the blue attempt to attack that person. Thats one reason why they are percieved so vicious and unpredictable because they plot on you, literally. Next thing you know on the news they are saying, he wasn't provoked, he just flipped out, and I"m the one who raised him, but yes, finish the interview and tell them, how a month before you beat the dog with a stick. Because they are such loyal dogs (VERY) they don't take betrayal lightly, like the poor young housewife who gets beat and keeps running back to her hubby. All I have to say is watch your back, and find them a home soon!

Chris
I hope you are joking with your post. that is the biggest bunch of c**p i have ever heard. Pit bulls are very forgiving dogs, thats why they are excellant family pets.example- my daughter decided to jump over my sleeping pit bull with her ice skates on and tripped and fell on his stomach with the blade part. He picked his head up licked her and put his head back down to go back to sleep. Should i be looking for signs that he might be " plotting to attack her" Give me a break. That is the stupidest statement. That is something that you would hear from the media. Please we have enough bad things said about the breed that we dont need you saying such garbage. and no i dont have washed down AM STAFFS. I have a female out of a son and daughter of jeep. and my male is from corvino and creed breeding.

Paula, do you think your daughter accidentally falling over your dog would be interpreted the same as if she beat the dog(s) continuously with a stick while yelling angrily?
And did you go back and read the original postings that were referenced? It appears that Krysta (and her dogs) would greatly benefit from learning how dogs learn, and how to teach them, and that getting furious and beating them is probably NOT what most of us would recommend.

First off there Valin whatever, you totally missed read my post. Pitbulls are the most loving dogs, I truely believe that. I am an advacate for them, however, I have owned more than my share of "fast lane" bulldogs, and they will not tolerate your $hit! If you treat them right, they are extremly loyal and forgiving to their owners for innocent mistakes, but outright abuse, sooner or later they will get your a$$!!!! That is the cases that end up in the news. That is why I said she needs to get rid of them. Your daughter jumping over your petbull is an innocent mistake, and those dogs are intelligent enough to know the difference between abuse and accidents. Don't confuse my words or statement, I'm not some anti-pitbull leftist who says they are all ticking time bombs and you should have to have a ATF permit to own them. In the above situation those owners are asking to get their a$$ handed to them by their dogs. Also, I'm not sure if this is the Valentine Kennels that I was familiar with Around 2000, but I know these dogs very well, that I won't let anyone tell me different, We are obviously both on the same side as far as the bulldogs are concerned but don't for one say that Krysta isn't setting herself up for an a$$ whipping by her dogs. I have seen guys throw a beer can at a bulldog and not lay eyes on that guy for 6months, and when she seen him again, he was lucky all she caught was his the tail of his shirt before her owner was able to grab her up. Things like that is what I'm mean when I say they are unforgiving. My kids use to beat the hell out of my dogs. Innocently. you try to intoduce them to the dogs and they slap the $hit out of them. My dogs would lick them and look at me like it's ok it's a kid. But an adult, beating them with a stick, is asking for it! Once again you TOTALLY changed the meaning of what I was saying

Paula have you read Krysta's other post. Where she describes beating her dog with a stick and kicking it into submission. I have own two hog-hunting pits. I can tell you Pits are forgiving to LOVE ONES but not to people who abuse. Her pit when it reaches maturity will most likely be a fear biter.
When this dog is stressed it will bite sooner or later. I hope Krysta will find these dogs a good and stable home. She has no business owning a dog much less a pitbull. I hope Krysta doesn't learn the hard way by being attacked or having to explain to police why her dog killed one of the neighbors pets or children.
This woman is far to irresponsible to own a pit or any dog at this point in her life. Paula, since you currently own a pit. I'm sure you can explain to this woman that owning a pitbull has more responsibilities than feeding and beating the hell out of it. Maybe someone can tell her the liabilities of owning a pit. Krysta uses the search feature and look at the post of pit attacks and how owners are being prosecuted and put in jail for their dogs actions.
