I was training 2x a day both some OB and bite work in the same session. Upon suggestion from experienced trainer/handler I switched to OB session in am and bitework in the PM. Anyone else with some insight or what training splits have worked for them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
Think of it this way. When you have a 5 year kid, do you try to teach them math and reading at the same time, no. The object should be to focus on one specific task at a time so you dont confuse or overwhelm the dog with any part of the training. Another good example of this is teaching kids sports. You start out by doing basic drills, such as fielding ground balls. Once they are good at that, you work on fielding the ball and throwing to first, then you work on turning the double play. You have lots of time with you dog so dont rush things. There is definitely a place for OB in bitework, but make sure you have a focused goal for what you want to accomplish in each training session.
