OK, I have a cheap bark collar, a refurbished Petsafe with adjustable levels I picked up for $20.
Now, the collar definitely works but my dog has, once again, figured out how to bypass the shock by changing her pitch and bark frequency ( to high pitch, low frequency) which is every bit as annoying as her regular bark.
Can the dogs outsmart the better bark collars My main use is for (1) crate barking at other dogs and (2) being out in the back yard for more than 5 minutes without barking her head off. I don't care whether or not she is collar smart.
If they can, then I don't see spending the money on a more expensive one .................
Spend the money and get the Dogtra NO BARK collar. Just set it on level (1) and if that doesn't stop the barking then go to level (2) and if that doesn't work then go to level (3) and so on. My dog was a barker and now he's nice and quiet on level (3).
Have you heard them take a correction when the dog makes a high pitched single yip bark on the Dogtra?
I have no doubt the Dogtra or the Tritronics are good bark collars and mine is a cheap one, (I have a Dogtra 2000NCP regular collar) but what she does is "Yip wait yip wait yip wait" ....I know it does not *get her* under THAT situation (because when she normally gets corrected, it is "woof woof eeeek".
The better collar would be worth the money IF she could not outsmart it.
