Today I took Cody out to socialize him. since being in the hospital he has been afraid of beeping noises and also looks back behind him as if something is chasing him. He also no longer likes men. (He is not agressive, just very nervous around them)
So, today we went to a deserted parking lot and walked around. There is a freeway near by so he hears the noise of the cars. He did very well today. He hardly looked back and we circled the parking lot a couple of times. He likes to be trained (treats), so as we walk when he comes up into heel position he gets rewarded.
I also worked on Terra's heel position. She is still on prednizone and gets so excited she shakes, but she did well. She is pretty smart. Today after breakfast she brought me her dish. She has seen Cody bring all the dishes in each morning so she copied him. We had a party when she picked up her dish and brought it to me.
Bindi is who I am going to be working on the pivot and position in heeling. My husband hasn't had an opportuniy to build the box yet, but while I am waiting I am studying what the handler does when training the pivot. That is it for me today. It has been very hot here today! So, we didn't do much outside. TOnight when Bindi stays up late with us, we will work on her heeling.

One thing was working on Logan's grooming table. My dad and I are building one...we did the legs today. Tomorrow we should do the rest. Its going to be about 3-1/2 ft long and 2ft wide. One end will have an eye bolt in case I need it. I may use it to bath him with the hose too. I'll have to post pix when its all done.
As for training...just positions again. He's "under" down perfectly...next is holding the position and moving or sit or down. Well firstly I need to get him off of the hand signal and more on the verbal cue.

Today Harley learn that the big scary birds (black geeses with red head) will not chase us as we jog past the crazy farm.
They hace every aminal that can spook Harley, zebra, dunky, lama, alpacas, chamel and a million of birds!! Chicken ducks and geeses and other that I have no clue what they are.
Any way the black goose is very agressive and charge the fence! and goes under it but they have a second fence that does stop the bird right at the street.
Yesterday the bird spooked both of us and today Harley was ready for it as we got closer to the said farm. I increased the pace, gave him a firm leave it and we got was a dirty look. Yesterday on the way back he was barking at it!
Dexter as figured out that when the running shoes are coming out he better hide in his crate. Jogging really not is cup of tea sunbathing is much more like him

Had to go to work an hour earlier...now having tracking withdrawal (Dennis, help me!). Did have a few minutes to continue the ongoing "Introduction to Articles".
Last evening we did have a chance to do more work with the au pieds; added more complexity to the game. Sadie got a little confused, but came through like the "good girl" she is.

Back to the track! Using the same bait/step pattern we've been working the past two weeks, we took to a new field. It had lots of bare spots, sparse grass, and patches of shells. Sadie did very well, with one slight bobble at a change in terrain. Overall, A-.
Continued working on articles off-track, and the newer, more complex au pied routine.

Had laid a track but that got washed away by an unexpected thunder storm.
So we worked on paws in the water bucket to get the clay off. Can't wait for landscaping to be done.
Plus some basic ob and fetch.

Got the grooming table done!!! Then it rained again so no pix yet, no bath yet for Logan.
What we worked on...just did some basic stuff, sit, down, stands were great, turns during heeling were a bit sloppy because of the rabbits in the field, under he did 3x perfect then for some reason the 4th time he tried to do it backwards...every now and then he does that.

Today I was swamped. Took Cody out to new location to walk to help him with his fears. He did pretty well. A couple was walking their german shepherd off the leash, it didn't come toward us, cody kept his eye on it though. He is doing better. When I take him out to help him get over his fears of noises, I do not train him but just walk him. When he puts himself in heel position, I reward him, but that is it.
Worked with Bindi this evening. She will be taking her canine good citizen test this sunday. Yesterday we worked on a stranger brushing her, she loved it and did well. Tonight we worked on her pivots. (they are not tested in the good citizen test) I am going back and making sure I have a good foundation for heeling and making sure my girl knows exactly where she should be when heeling. We also worked on playing tug after her training. She did tug a little tonight. (She is a rescue and has never really liked to play with toys or tugs. I am trying to help her loosen up a bit, she is always very cautious and serious.
Unfortunately with my time crunch today, Terra did not get worked with.
That is it for me. had fun with the pups. Sharon

Club night last night. Lot's of OB and desensitizing... even a bit of socialization. More obstacles, including raising the wall some more. A few weeks ago, we started out with it opened up to about half of it's full height and grade. Each week we started where we left off, then raised it some. We are only about two sessions from being regulation.
Although we still have more desensitizing to do, Sadie has come a long way. Having her more relaxed allows her to enjoy training so much more.
Third session of decoy training for me.
