We're working the counter conditioning now. Her nails REALLY needed trimmed and it's one of those situations where we just needed to get it done. I love the marker counter conditioning for handling issues, but it takes a little bit to work, and she was starting to bust nails. It must have been months since the last time someone trimmed her nails.

Excellent ending!
As to doing the nails.
My brother got his Presa when it was 3 yrs old and he was told they had to hog tie the dog to do it's nails. The vet wouldn't trim them or the groomer.
I showed my brother how to do marker training and after the marker was loaded he started touching the dogs feet, mark and reward.
Rubbing the dogs feet, mark and reward. Touch the dogs feet with the Dremel turned on. Rub the dog's feet with the Dremel on.
Touch the dogs feet with the Dremel itself. yadda yadda on through the actual grinding.
Within about two weeks the dog now calmly lays on his side while his nails are done.
Make it a rewardable behavior!
BIG FAT DITTO to Bob! And also .... one at a time, IMO, is a completely worthy goal.
And yes, of course we get it that it had to be done, period.
Need to get caught up on the Fama saga but it sounds like you've done a wonderful job getting the women in your life on the same page, under some pretty extenuating circumstances.
Here's a couple Nosework videos I shot yesterday evening. It was very windy, so it takes Fama some time to locate source. In think it's cool to watch her bracket in to the hide. The one by the tree was interesting. She was directly upwind of the hide a couple times but didn't hit odor until I pushed her past it.
I imprinted her on birch a couple days ago, so hopefully we can get in on an ORT soon. These are all birch hides, single q-tip, 5 minute cook time before the search.
The hides are:
Under the truck by the rear tire.
Buried about 1/2" deep in the corner of the landscaping.
In the grass to the right of the tree.
