I have trained a number of Labradors and 2 Australian Shepards that went through a "clumbsy" stage while less than a year old. I would slow down a little for them and let them get their confidence back if I thought they needed it. The prey drive training in dogs which have the drive is a wonderful thing. People are constantly asking how I get my lab to heel so well and show such attention in Rally, and it is from using the ball on a string as shown in the Flinks video. When Molly (my Lab) is in full drive she will not take food. When she was about your pups age, I used the ball on a long string and moved much slower. After you dog gets older (18 months or so) get her in agility. This helps the dog's confidence, courage and bond with you. I don't compete in agility, but my dogs can do all the apparatus with a big happy sure of myself doggy grin. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I think Ed's video said it best about over-doing the exercise thing. You might want to shorten the time you do the drive building and increase the number per day. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Thanks Gary. I plan on getting him into agility--I'm going to compete in it with my ACD, so it's already on the list of things to do.

We may do it in a continuous loop for maybe 4 or 5 minutes before I'm pooped <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Siris isn't even sweating (not that dog's sweat...you know what I mean).
He went and yanked the string out of the ball today while we were doing drive building...so we played fetch for a bit *lol*

Silly schutzhund, tricks are for kids
*lol* Well, I'm moving my way up gradually. I *want* to either train business K9s, or law enforcement K9s. I figured Schutzhund's a good stepping stone for a novice to bite work.
