This is an interesting thread. My dog is in the second week now of collar conditioning and I dont want her to become collar wise. I plan to mainly use the e-collar for recall and off leash control so it's super important she doesn't become collar wise.
Steve, so when you correct your dog (who is gorgeous btw), does he look at you using the remote? Or do you correct him while the remote's in your pocket? Also, what are you using the c-collar for?
I got it to control his prey drive, he went through my screen door more than once after squirrels. Also he wanted to chase bicycles, motorcycles, and skateboards. After I saw how well he reacted to such a mild corrections I use it for almost anything you would need to correct for. I keep the remote in my pocket when I nick him, I just got into a bad habit of pointing it at him so he was looking at the remote all the time, now he looks at my face.
I bought the Dogtra dummy collar for conditioning my dog to the E collar. Big waste of money, in my opinion. It weighs twice as much as the real collar, so I think I will just use the real collar to condition the dog.
I've been conditioning my dog for the last 2 weeks also. I usually put it on/take it off 3-4 times a day. She doesn't mind the collar at all. I have yet to turn it on though.
