Maybe the thread was locked due to some dip#&$% (sorry brock, but come on) comment about a hybrid. Have you read up on the general concensus on hybrids on this site? If not, please do.
Wow. Kind of harsh...easy there!
I read the old thread and I thought it was pretty clear that everyone that mentioned hybrids were joking.

That is kinda strange that it was locked... hmm.
I was laughing when I read what Dennis wrote in that thread, and what I said was my opinion and the truth. My dog is all GSD, with lines going back to Natan v Busecker Schloss(I got te papers to prove it too).

I always love Dennis' posts. If I had a laughing thumbs up emoticon (or knew how to use it) I would give Dennis one.

Here I am interacting with other dog owners, learning a fair amount, enjoying the process, and SOMEONE decides to call me names.
Much obliged to those who had nice things to say/came to my defense, And to those who shared their dog-deterrence stories.

I too was enjoying and learning from that thread. However, this thread OP inquired why it got locked, I was simply providing my opinion as to why it was shut down. No name calling here, if you read clearly, it was a commentary about the hybrid comment itself, not you personally. Have you read the articles on this site about hybrids yet? Check out other threads that go into hybrids...they are locked too.

Dennis,
I don't know why that thread was closed. I'd PM you with the reason if I knew.....but I don't.
The Mod's are still here, and yes, I'm certainly busy in school and trying to keep up with dog training.
I still reply in "interesting" threads.
Kevin and VanCamp still reply in various threads also......so the Mod's are still around.

Well, since I can talk about my "Hybrid" now let me tell you how my "BS" story got started. My 68 year old alcohol addled old woman of a neighbor whom I'm related to by marriage was giving me crap about having four “dangerous” dogs around especially since I had small kids; 5, 8 and 11. And being a frail old woman who needs a cane to walk, particularly when she’s been drinking was concerned that they would run right over and attack her, or at least knock her over. To smooth things over with her and to keep her from calling the county animal control or the Child Protection Agency everyday which she has done with other the neighbors, I went over to my mail box with Erika(click on signature line for pic) when she went to get her mail, she tried running but… did I mention she needed a cane and drank a lot? Well I got her to stop and explained that my dogs were family pets trained to do tricks and are very friendly. I went thru my basic OB routine along with the paw wave, roll over, dead dog and my favorite the “dancing dog” complete with spins. Well that calmed her down and I didn’t think any more of it until she had some contractors over. Let me get my apologies out now, but forgive me, as we are aware, many of the construction workers were guests of the state at one time or another or who are the few illegals who shouldn’t be in this country under any circumstance. I was next to her fence when the contractor boss asked about the dogs and she proceeded to tell him that they were sweethearts and very friendly and wouldn’t hurt anybody. I freaked… when she staggered back inside I went over to the foreman with Erika on lead and explained to him that my dogs being friendly is just a story to keep her from getting upset and worried. That in fact, and this is were the BullS**t starts, That Erika is from DDR and Czech Secret Police Border Patrol lines crossed with Carpathian man eating wolves, That Max, my white GSD, was bred for Artic combat operations, Roxy, Erika’s mom my black GSD was bred specifically for night fighting, and Maggie, my GSD mix with bad hips, was dropped from Police dog training for being too mean and always targeting the groin. To add emphasis, I mumbled “Reviere” to Erika and she started her barking, snapping and spit was flying. The other three dogs, God bless them, got fired upped and SLAMMED into the fence barking and snapping. In reality, would my dogs bite if you came into my yard? Maybe, I don’t know. But that contractor and his crew are convinced and hopefully they'll tell all their friends too.

PML Dennis!! Do you mind if I borrow a couple of your creative stories?? We certainly don't live on the poshy side of town. (frankly, I think they have more problems with vandalism, especially of the teenage sort, on that side of town anyway...but that's another story..)
My CLOSE neighbors (the kind where you help each other look out for each others) know the real scoop on our dogs. But ANYONE else is welcome to believe they are man eating, part alien monsters. You just have a more colorful way of putting it!
To the OP - while this is still anectotal, I have heard from many different police officers and insurance agents through the years that professional burgulars/robbers (anyone choosing a crime site for where it's not personal) will avoid homes with dogs - any dogs.
I also heard that the second most feared thing of a criminal (behind dogs) is a WOMAN with a gun. I've only heard that one once though.
