i just saw it, but i think it was a different episode, there was the first(i missed it), then Dog Whisperer, then Dog town gain.
I sort of half watched it, and all i saw was a little terrier named animal that bit everyone.
but what you are describing is yet another entertaining(???) show to pal around with the Dog Whisperer.....
i used to be a let the dogs work it out kind of person, until i saw how my dog wanted to work it out.
It still makes me mad when people do that....oh, i don't mind if my dog gets humped, he'll let them know when he's had enough....well, yeah, by fighting!
I think these people are doing a good thing by taking in these dogs, and are working with what techniques make good tv, though i wonder what happens to those dogs that can never be homed because they won't correct the doggone thing...

Mallory, the episode with the terrier is the one I am talking about.
Also, to answer the question on which dog was the new one, supposedly the larger dog, Ruger, was. But they gave no history or information at all on the smaller dog. The smaller dog could have been new, may have been there a while, who knows. They sure didn't seem to care, just grabbed a dog to put in with Ruger, and stood there and watched.

I watched the show and thought it was interesting. I am not an expert with dog training so I cannot say anything one way or the other. What I did like about the show was that there is an organization out there that is trying to help dogs to have a better way of life. The program also showed me what a puppy mill was and it was nothing that I expected. It was worse.
I think these shows, Dog Whisperer and Dog Town, even if you disagree with the training aspect of it, will make the public aware of what is happening to pets as a whole. Hopefully, it will make a positive effect in the overcrowding of the animal shelters and help people change their ways of thinking.

I watched, the scene your talking about is two dogs that grew up together (ruger and ? remington another gun name) and never were around other dogs except each other. So they said the only chance for these dogs is to split them up so what you saw was their test for interaction around other dogs. Seemed very short and once the one did ok (seemed like only 5 minutes) they released one into the population and the other that was getting dominated got took back and said they were going to work more with him. I seemed to watch with a deer in the headlights about how they did some things, I may be wrong but I'm sure others will comment.

ok, it didn't seem they would put out a double episode, but i did miss that scene. What they did sounds stupid and dangerous, and it follows Dog Whisperer, oh great!
i was on the computer and messing with the dogs, so it was on, btu i on;y managed to see all the scenes with the terrier animal, like getting a bath and being shaved.
I'm glad he was wearing a muzzle(or rather they showed him in a muzzle on tv), some people are just so anti muzzle.
They are also anti everything common sense. I knew someone who was asking me for help, their dog was animal aggressive, and chewed everything up in the house, but they didn't want to use a crate or a muzzle. I was like, well, i can't help you...
but i digress....
the show is interesting, but i know better, and know when they are doing something wrong( my friends thought i was psycho when i was yelling at the tv on episode of dog whisperer, cesar was TELLING them to mess with the dogs food, to put their hands in bowls).
lots of people are going to try and let their 2 dogs "work it out" now, and someone is going to get hurt.
it is a shame people don't think anymore, before present day, they were just tv shows, and it seemed people knew that, now, everyone has to do what they see someone like that do, with dangerous outcomes.
so i will likely continue to watch it, and hope others, like people at our dog park, don't see it.

Here is Best Friends email: info@bestfriends.org.
Maybe if we all sent then a NICE note about their appalling dog introduction methods and the downfalls of it, along with a link to Leerburg they might modify their methods, it might take them awhile to change but the good seeds will have been planted.
The nice tone for any correspondence will be important so they don't just delete your letter.

Uhh, there's about as much chance of that as of Cesar Millan getting rid of his pack and turning his center into a cat sanctuary!
Right or wrong, this is a big time operation. Look at their website, their annual report, list of contributors, and such. And now a TV show!
I imagine they think they know more about handling dogs than anyone on this site.

Debbie and Mike: Hay, you never know, at least they would have the info to think about. Perhaps we could just send them an article about the topic and praise the good things they are doing, might get a better response.
What do ya think?
