Do you know anyone handy that could make you a small inside dog house with sound proof walls, floor and ceiling? Doesn't need to be too big. Maybe an extra closet somewhere in the house, that would be cheap to sound proof or would your dog freak if you put her in a closet with a bed and light in times of loud noises? Bathroom sounds good to me, sound proofing is sometimes good for everyone in a bathroom.

This is brilliant. At least one member here has posted about the dog preferring to be in the bathtub with blankets and a partial "roof," so this is a logical extension, seems to me.
The bathroom isn't an option, I'm not ripping out original tile and fixtures to soundproof it for the dog, my husband would kill me
We just don't have any extra closets, there are only three small ones in the whole house.
Love the charm of old homes, but storage space is nearly non existent!
Maybe trying to find a crate, or building a wooden box that would fit under the desk and then lining it with thick foam would help some.
It wouldn't be pretty but it might do the trick.

No, don't rip out the orginal bathroom. You can build a sound proof crate, go to a Home Depot or a hardware store and find out what type of materials they have for sound proofing. You can also stain or paint the outside to match your desk or furniture, where ever you decide to but it. It doesn't have to be an eye sore. Maybe it will be a fun project for you and maybe if you are good at making something sound proof that is nice looking you can start to sell them on E-Bay for other dog owners who have the same need.
