I was told that in the town I live that there are no breeds that are banned, not even APBT's. As far as the different insurance companies not insuring people with certain breeds, yeah I've heard of that, but we don't have any issue with our company insuring us and we have a GSD. I remember when we were talking to the insurance guy, he asked if we had dogs, all we said to this was "yes, two dogs, a GSD and a Lab", and that was it and there was no issue, I have a funny feeling if we would have said we owned a APBT or some other "dangerous" breed we would have had an issue, but I don't know if that would have been the case for sure.

We do here. Good luck getting homeowners insurance if you have a rottie, akita, or a pit/am staff. Some of the insurance companies here want a picture of your dog now before they agree to cover.

I feel like sending this Grandma tapes of The Dog Whisperer's shows where Daddy comes in a calms and rehabilitates dogs that don't have good pack leaders.
Or a German Shepherd that has been trained by Will R.
Ummmm......sending them Fetz might add fuel to the fire there....

What I meant was they could see how well you have your dog under control and while Fetz is trained to do many aggressive techniques, that you have him controlled at all times.
Is this correct?

Oh, he's under great control, nowadays I attend my local area dog OB weekly training sessions with Fetz doing his off-leash work ( still on e-collar though ). The instructors use him and I as the demo dog and then we just kinda do our own more advanced training, as the class is basic ( but very well run, I love attending! ).
It makes for a great "training with distractions" session.
But still...Fetz is not a cuddly or a particularly approachable dog. A stranger approaching me the first time, he lets them know that he's there......
So he wouldn't be my choice as a K9 ambassador, lol, he just is what he is and I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Ok, I gotcha!
Fetz may not be the ambassador type, but impressive none the less.
Wish I could see him in action!
Ironically, I have just the opposite reaction( to those that want to ban the breeds we're talking about here) to working dogs like Fetz. I could sit and watch those kind of training sessions all day long, just admiring the hell out of the breed.
Their capabilities and levels of concentration etc, etc.
Nothing more impressive than a working dog, doing what you trained him/her to do!

I think its sad that pit bulls have come to have such a bad rap. I have met many who are fantastic dogs. Its unfortunate, but I see the stereotype of the breed reinforced all the time. Too many "breeders" who either don't know what they are doing or breed for gameness, and then they turn around and sell them to people who don't know what they are doing and don't care to learn.
This past year I have met at least 10 pitbull puppies out with their new owners, all between 4 and 7 weeks old. Way too young as you pointed out in your response. This is probably where most of the problems start.
I liked the point you made about the CGC. PB owners who are responsible should put social pressure on the ones who are not.
