I grew up with Cockers. They were saints. To say their heads are too small for their brains is reminiscent of the old Dobe myths. I thought we'd advanced past those, but I see not. The problem with unstable dogs typically lies in breeding for pets and show, and not performance.
Now I have GSDs and Pits. My Pits are from gamebred lines, my GSDs all working lines. I wouldn't have any other lines, as when you breed for anything but total performance and what a breed was meant to be, you screw up everything else, including temperament. My newest female Pit is 6 mos. old and weighs just a hair under 20lbs. She will mature to proper Pit Bull size and structure. These massive beasts you see all over are NOT true Pit Bulls. I get so sick of people bashing them and talking about their temperamental problems and the dogs they're talking about are not even Pit Bulls, nor would they know a Pit if they saw one. They are not big, and they are not scary looking. Those monstrosities are what they're calling "American Bullies" and trying to make into a real breed. <sigh>
Sure there are HA Pits. But to say a Pit in a house w/kids is a "resounding No!" is preposterously stupid.
What has this board come to when that comment goes largely unchallenged?
I've posted this several times over the years, but I think it's time to post it again.

Personally though, I think you’re doing a big disservice to the breed by glomping all pit bull rescues under the umbrella that they should not be brought into homes with children. (CJ)
.... they can often be the BEST dogs with children. (Kelly)
... I would never presume to say that rescuing a pitt with children should be "a resounding NO." (Jessica)
... something soft and lovey like a golden retriever is often more accepted for integrating with kids, but there is no reason a pit, GSD, Dobie or other Scary breed wouldn't be perfectly fine as well. (Jennifer)
You know as well as I do that there was a day when those ideals would have been vehemently challenged and called out in no uncertain terms, as opposed to politically pussyfooting around.

Adios. I'll go back to my hole now.
Hopefully not before hearing how much I love your new updated photo!!! Gorgeous.
I have no experience with pitts and didn't feel qualified to post about them... I love 'em though.
How is it that your infant has grown into a toddler and yet, I haven't aged a moment? What a miracle!
Stick around Jenn.
