I did not participate as far as the contest goes. However, as was said in the previous thread, the deadline and knowing others were also doing the training was enough for me. I have three dogs, and worked with them on the trick of holding a treat on their nose and catching it when I release them. One has it down perfectly, the other two about 90% on the catching part. Not really anything to video. If I only had one dog to work with, maybe they would be doing better, but it wasn't fair to just pick one to do the training with. I will continue to do the training of a new trick or command each month. It also helps to get ideas of what other people are training that I can use in later months.

I planned on participating, but fate was against me, and I got a job! Our training has been limited to stuff for our BH, which are already learned behaviors, and playing fetch/bike rides to tire the boy out. Now that we're in a routine, I'm up for another training challenge!!
I love the new idea btw, just haven't posted over there yet.

Connie,
i would do what Barb said.
put the camera on a table or other high object, look through the view finder to see what your parameters are (like the couch on the left & the tv on the right so you know what area you n eed to stay in so you don't go out of frame)
and go from there.
I keep meaning to enter, but it's the time that i have a hard time working with!
Don't complain....TRAIN!!! |

That too. I do three different jobs, and am surrounded by piles. LOL
Like most people, probably.

I have a really good excuse/reason; I don't have my puppy yet.
Puppy pick up date is exactly 3 weeks, 2 days away. Give us a few days to work on her learning her name and then we will be participating in the training resolution portion of the forum. I think I've got the video part down pat at least.
We'll see about the contest part once we learn the basics. Still deciding on a trainer right now.

Debbie, do I remember that you are in Toronto?
eta: oh yeah, we talked about this - I really would consider the trainer I recommended. At least go to him for the free consultation. I know you won't regret it.

Phaedra, I called GeminiK9 yesterday and talked to a lady with a heavy German(?) accent. I have to wait until Sasha gets her second set of shots and then call them again to set up an evaluation time.
I'm a little concerned about the drive across the top of the city but of the trainers I've checked out so far, I like him the best. I really like that he will be accomodating to my crazy work schedule.
Afterthought; I spoke to my breeder today and at 5 1/2 weeks my "little girl" is already 12 lbs. I'm going down to see her on Saturday, and I'll be posting a picture or too when I get back.
